On the heels of his highly successful “This is America” video, Childish Gambino has done it again. On Sat Sept. 1, Gambino released a creative new animated entry called “Feels like Summer.” On display are animated versions of rap stars Nicki Minaj and Travis Scott playing with building blocks. Nicki displays her displeasure when Travis pulls out a block, and their building collapses. The two have had their own issues of late.
Minaj gave Scott the “Hoe Nigga of the Week” award on her Queen Radio show after criticizing Scott’s “Astroworld” world album’s promotional tactics.
The video, which was directed by Gambino, Ivan Dixon and Greg Sharp, shows Gambino taking a stroll down the block while several hip hop stars lie in the sun. Drake is chasing Future as he speeds away on a bike. Migos is spotted playing a game of pickup basketball. The character designer for the project was Justin Richburg.
The video has been described as “a colorful piece that evokes images of summer time fun.” A few of those more memorable images include Kanye West crying in his ‘Make America Great Again’ as Michelle Obama gives him a hug.
