ATLANTA — Clark Atlanta University has received a nearly $10 million grant from the Department of Defense to expand its research in artificial intelligence.

The five-year grant will support research in artificial intelligence while strengthening programs including chemistry, mathematics and physics.

The funding will support new and current faculty and provide undergraduate and graduate students with more opportunities to participate in research, including defense-related projects.

The university will also use the funding to help develop artificial intelligence courses and build research partnerships.

The grant was awarded through a federal program that helps historically Black colleges and universities and other minority-serving institutions expand their research.

Clark Atlanta University says the goal is to prepare more students for careers in science and technology.
