When checking the weather meant slowing down: a retro look back BEVERLY HILLS, CA - JULY 27: Meteorologist Stephanie Abrams speaks during The Weather Channel portion of the 2011 Summer TCA Tour at the Beverly Hilton on July 27, 2011 in Beverly Hills, California. This brings me so much joy because there was something oddly hypnotic about watching the Weather Channel in the 90s and early 2000’s. It wasn’t urgent unless a storm was coming, it was slow, steady, and almost meditative. You’d flip past cartoons and sitcoms and land on those soft instrumental tracks, the kind that felt like elevators dreaming. Travel back to those simpler days here.
