Former Georgia detective’s wife says Flock camera searches saved her life

MILTON, GA — The wife of a former metro Atlanta area police detective who was fired over his use of Flock cameras is defending her husband, saying he was trying to protect her during medical emergencies.

Randy Dula is accused of using the camera system seven times over two years to search for his wife, Mariam Dula, when he could not reach her.

Randy Dula said he was concerned about his wife’s health. She has diabetes, which she says can quickly become life-threatening and leave her disoriented.

“My husband did not misuse Flock,” Mariam Dula said.

She said the searches helped save her life and believes her husband should not have been fired for trying to protect her.

“I had become disoriented, I don’t realize where I am, I don’t know what’s going on,” she said.

Randy Dula is appealing his termination.

The city of Milton said in a statement that it does not comment on personnel matters.
