The Phillips family has had multiple medical challenges over the years. This year, Miki, who is going through a divorce, has had two kidney surgeries and also struggles with Rheumatoid Arthritis. But the hardest part of the year happened in September when one of the 14 year-old twins was diagnosed with severe pancreatitis. She spent three-months in the hospital, has lost most of her pancreas, is newly diabetic, and has a projected 12-month recovery process ahead of her. Her 3 siblings suffer from other medical issues as well, and with Mom being a full-time nurse to Haddi, she has not been able to work. This family is doing their best to manage all of this and as the nominator said, “it has been a long year for their family and I’m sure they would appreciate some special blessings.”
