‘Walking Dead’ actor Josh Turner hosting auction to help deaf children

When charitable organizations call, Josh “TKO” Turner listens.

Turner, a professional wrestler who appeared in four seasons of “The Walking Dead” television series as the Tattooed Savior, is teaming up with a Tennessee nonprofit organization to host “TKO’s Not So Silent Auction.” The Oct. 3 event at the Great Smoky Mountain Comic Expo in Newport, Tennessee, will benefit Waiting to Hear, based out of East Tennessee.

Waiting to Hear was founded by Shannon Ball of Kingsport, whose daughter was able to hear again through the use of cochlear implants when she was 3 years old, the organization said in a news release.

The auction features autographed memorabilia from science fiction and superhero-themed television shows and movies.

Turner, 34, who is from Knoxville, will be joined by his daughter, Kaylie Turner, 13, who appeared on one episode of “The Walking Dead” in 2014 and also appeared with her father in the comedy television show “The Father Daughter Duo.”

Money raised from the auction will benefit Waiting to Hear’s Camp H.E.A.R. program.

“Waiting to Hear is truly an amazing cause,” Turner told Cox Media Group on Saturday. "Seeing the smile on these kids' faces makes it all worth it.

“Every kid deserves the chance to hear, and that’s what Waiting to Hear gives them.”

Josh Turner and his daughter warmed up for next month’s auction by surprising kids at Camp H.E.A.R. last week, the organization said in a news release. The pair met campers, signed autographs and gave each child that attended camp a Funko Pop toy from Pops for Patients.

Since “The Walking Dead,” Josh Turner has played a few roles. He had an uncredited role as a security guard in this year’s “Impractical Jokers: The Movie” film and had a role in the 2019 film “The Blue Ridge Massacre.”
