Actor Sylvester Stallone is joining the cast of “The Suicide Squad,” according to the film’s director, James Gunn.
“Always love working with my friend @officialslystallone & our work today on #TheSuicideSquad was no exception," Gunn wrote. "Despite Sly being an iconic movie star, most people still don’t have any idea what an amazing actor this guy is.”
A fan, writing in the comments section, asked Gunn if that meant Stallone was involved with the film, and Gunn replied, “Yep,” Variety reported.
Gunn did not say what Stallone’s role would be in the production of the film. The pair worked together on “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” the magazine reported.
“The Suicide Squad” is scheduled to be released on Aug. 6, 2021, and stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Peter Capaldi and Viola Davis.
Gunn wrote the screenplay for “The Suicide Squad,” Variety reported.
