Premiering on Sept. 17, 1972, ‘M*A*S*H’ quickly became one of the most beloved TV series in American history.

Adapted from the 1970 film of the same name, based on the 1968 novel, the show told the story of personnel stationed at a mobile army surgical hospital unit during the Korean War.
