Pac Man Fever: The University of Rome recommends that doctors play the Nintendo Wii to improve their skills. Their study found playing on the console for an hour a day boosted surgeon speed and accuracy by 65%.
Researcher Gregorio Patrizi says, ''Our study proved its efficacy in improving the skills of surgeons in training both for laparoscopic basic skills and full virtual cholecystectomy procedures. Previous research has found that playing video games enhances an individual's spatial attention and hand-eye coordination. We hope this may be a trigger to develop dedicated software aimed to help young surgeons as the economic impact of these consoles is significantly lower than traditional laparoscopic simulators and they provide a basic didactic value. The Nintendo Wii might be helpful, inexpensive and entertaining part of the training of young laparoscopists, in addition to a standard surgical education based on simulators and the operating room.''

Mis-steak Diane: Londoner Diane Hammill serves her kids moldy food and spoiled milk. She tells the Sun, ''I’m not a bit bothered by dirt and germs. Some people might think I’m a bad mum. How could I let my children eat mold? But I believe that germs are good for us. From gone-off milk and moldy bread to mud and dirty water – I believe it will all make my children healthier. I became obsessed with exposing them to germs. I was determined to build up their immune systems so they were better equipped to fight illness.”
Cookie Monster Wanted For Questioning: Thieves recently broke into a Spartanburg, South Carolina warehouse where they stole $19,000 worth of Girl Scout Cookies. The theft of the thin mints and shortbreads was discovered during an inventory count.
Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka have allegedly called off their engagement. A source tells Hollywoodlife.com Neil is mad about something David said. “They’re barely speaking, and as of now there’s no wedding in the immediate future. Neil’s still mad and David is terrified he’s going to lose him.''
** UPDATE **
Neil Patrick Harris Tweeted: The Nat Enq is cray cray. We've never had a wedding date, just engaged (Prop 8 and all). We're on a cruise as I write. He's rad. All good.
Perez Hilton claims Russell Crowe and Natalie Imbruglia flirted at an Oscars party. A source says, "They were all over one another and doing little to hide their flirting. They were being really playful and jokey with one another. You could see they really hit it off. They then went back to Russell’s room with some friends where they were partying until broad daylight. They were singing really loudly together around the piano, belting out some show tunes, and they looked pretty cozy when everyone left them to it."
Pauly D says Snooki is a great mom. He tells US Weekly, ''She is a great mother. Everyone says 'She's crazy, how could she be a mother?' But she flipped a switch -- she went right into motherhood. She said she was scared she wouldn't know what to do but her motherly intuitions kicked in and I can see it.''
Snooki says, ''I want [another] kid already, I just need to get my house first. 'I want four kids, so I want to [get pregnant again] soon. Jionni has made me a better person. He's made me so much more mature -- he's my life and all I think about. Being a mom is definitely more easier than I thought it would be just because Lorenzo's amazing. He's a happy baby. He hardly cries... everything has been smooth sailing and it's been so fun.''
Kristen Stewart has allegedly been ignoring Rupert Sanders' texts. A source tells RADAR Online, “Kristen doesn’t really know what’s going on with her and Robert at the moment, and she’s been left in limbo. Hollywood’s Strangest Hobbies from xfinity.comcast.net
Angelina Jolie Beautiful and dangerous? Angelina Jolie is certainly both. The mother of six collects first edition books and… wait for it… antique daggers. “I’ve always been fascinated by other cultures and history and honor and fight and so they… they are not shiny, brand-new sharp knives from the store,” Jolie told Barbara Walters. “They’re antique beautiful knives from other countries, and they are locked in a case so my son does not touch them.”
Johnny Depp and Barbies? Not the first thought that comes to mind, but the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor has been very open about his love for playing with the Mattel-made dolls. “I’ve played with a lot of Barbies and Kens for my kids,” Depp told Britain’s Now magazine. “It’s actually one of the only things I’m good at.” The 49-year-old actor reportedly collects limited edition celebrity Barbies, including lifelike Lindsay Lohan and Elvis figurines.
Tom Hanks’ quirky hobby is actually pretty cool. The actor collects antique manual typewriters. “I have almost 200 old portable manual typewriters. Most of them are actually working and I keep them rotating,” the actor revealed on “Live with Regis and Kelly.” Hanks even went as far as to take one of his typewriters, an old manual Corona Typewriter, around the world with him while he promoted the film “Larry Crowne.”
Justin Bieber He can sing, he can dance, he can… solve Rubik’s cubes? Though Justin Bieber isn’t able to hold down a girlfriend, the triple threat is definitely able to solve a tricky Rubik’s cube in under two minutes, an impressive talent he has shown off publicly on a number occasions.
Leslie Mann She is beautiful, hilarious, married to Judd Apatow… and rides a mean unicycle. Actress Leslie Mann says her hidden talents include the ability to expertly ride the one-wheeled contraption. “I can do all kinds of tricks, like cycling backward and jumping off curbs,” Mann revealed in an interview with O! Magazine. If this whole movie career doesn’t pan out, Mann can always just become a circus clown
Adele is getting a wax statue at Madame Tussauds.
Simon Cowell may hire John Mayer and Katy Perry to judge The X Factor. A source tells Perez Hilton, "Simon sees it as a brilliant pairing. Katy's sassy, honest and a huge star, while John's more reserved. Having them as rivals would be genius - if they had on-air bust-ups, it'd be unmissable."
Diddy and Mark Wahlberg have launched a new line of water called AQUAHydrate. Mark says, "We all strive to do the best we can for our bodies but sometimes schedules, stress and other factors get in the way. AQUAHydrate helps me achieve the balance my body needs, no matter what."
