- Academy Award winners may not sell their Oscar until they first offer it to the Academy for $1. Each Oscar statue costs $500 to make. The award stands 13 ½ inches tall and is plated in copper, nickel, silver and 24-karat gold.


- The Daily Star claims many of Hollywood's leading ladies prepared for last night's Oscars by enduring multiple bowel cleansings and eating antimicrobial foods. Others slimmed down by eating nothing more than artichokes, strawberries and honey.

 

 An Apple A Day Keeps The Wrinkles Away: Many celebs spent extra time in the makeup room before appearing on stage at the Oscars. Some stars rejuvenated their faces with an apple stem-cell anti-aging facial. The process uses stem cells from the rare Uttwiler Spatlauber Swiss apple. The skin is peeled with a mix of the cells, grapes and lactic acid, before an apple mask is baked on with an LED light. The process takes hours and costs $3,000.

 

 

The Cost Of Putting On The Oscars Ceremony from the Journal Sentinel

The Academy of Motion Pitcures Arts and Sciences earns a reported $89.6 million from the Oscars, $75 million of which comes annually from ABC, which has a contract to telecast the affair through 2020.

ABC is charging from $1.6 million to $1.8 million for a 30-second Oscar ad.

The ceremonies cost about $21 million to stage.

The producers - this year, Neil Meron and Craig Zadan - receive an estimated $100,000 honorarium.

The host, Seth MacFarlane, receives a union-mandated fee in the range of $15,000.

The set cost $1 million.

The red carpet costs about $1.50 per square foot, or about $25,000.

The Governors Ball after the ceremonies costs about $1.8 million.

The guests at the ball will drink about $87,000 in champagne and $58,000 in wine.

The white truffles used by chef Wolfgang Puck cost about $34,000

Chocolate at the ball costs about $20,000.

A chandelier Liberace would die for was designed at a cost of $1 million.

1. "Identity Thief," $14 million, ($170,000 international).

 Gun Control: Wal-Mart is sold out of some of its most popular guns. They are rationing ammunition because of high demand. Customers are limited to three boxes per day.

 

eBaby: The Manitowoc, Wisconsin police recently received a call about a child for sale on eBay. The ad was removed before cops could see it. A caller helped cops contact the buyer, who told them the child had been sold for $1,200. Police traced the computer to Roncalli High School where a student posted the ad as a joke. Police issued a $681 ordinance citation for disorderly conduct rather than a criminal charge.

 

 Daytona Crash: At least 28 NASCAR fans were injured on Saturday when debris and a tire flew into the Daytona International Speedway grandstand during a Nationwide Series race. A crash sent Kyle Larson's car sailing into the fence. Large chunks of the vehicle landed in the grandstand. The car's burning engine burned a hole in the fence. Larson said, "I was getting pushed from behind, I felt like, and by the time my spotter said lift or go low, it was too late. I was in the wreck and then felt like it was slowing down and I looked like I could see the ground. Had some flames come in the cockpit, but luckily I was all right and could get out of the car quick."

The Whopper: Carlton, Minnesota's Black Bear Casino set a new world record for the biggest cheeseburger. It was 10 feet in diameter and weighed 2,014 pounds. A crane flipped the burger. The meat took four hours to cook while the bun took seven. Casino guests ate the burger for free.

A Cougar allegedly harrassed Taylor Lautner at a pre-Oscars party. A source tells Hollywoodlife.com, “Taylor just turned 21, but that didn’t stop a drunk blonde that looked to be twice his age from trying to hit on him. She had him cornered on the patio and poor Taylor looked so uncomfortable. Luckily Glee star Chord Overstreet swooped to his rescue and simply dragged him away from the prowling cougar.”

 

 

MC Hammer was arrested in Northern California on Thursday. He Tweeted: "Chubby elvis looking dude was tapping on my car window, I rolled down the window and he said 'Are you on parole or probation?' While I was handing him my ID he reached in my car and tried to pull me out the car but forgot he was on a steady donut diet….
