Get busy

Turn off the TV
Too much time in front of the boob tube can take a serious toll on your health. Stay out of the sun

COWELL MAD X-FACTOR WILL COMPETE AGAINST THE VOICE!

Simon Cowell is not happy that NBC has decided to air an episode of The Voice on Wednesday, September 12^th in direct competition with the season premiere of The X Factor.  Simon told TMZ he thought there was a “gentleman’s agreement” with NBC that the shows would not overlap so audiences can enjoy both.  He also believes the move will cause a huge rift between pop stars Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. “Britney’s not going to appreciate the fact that Christina – who has been a bit of a rival – isn’t allowing Britney to have a night of her own,” said Simon. But in the end, Simon believes the move was caused by NBC’s jealousy of his show. “These guys have really got it in for us.  It's nothing short of dirty tricks," he said, adding, "The reason they've done this is they don't want people to see X Factor because they've heard how good the series is.  They don't want their audience to see Britney Spears.  They don't want their audience to see Demi Lovato." Meanwhile, The Voice producer Mark Burnett thinks Simon is reading too much into the move.  In fact, Burnett told TMZ he didn’t even know about NBC’s schedule change until the site called him for his reaction to Simon’s comments. In related news…Simon Cowell tells TMZ that Britney Spears almost walked off The  X Factor on the first day. Original reports claimed Britney walked out of auditions to go the bathroom, but Simon said it was something more.  "No one is going to admit that on the first day your highest paid star after 20 minutes has walked off set," Cowell told the site, explaining that Brit, “had a moment on the first day where she said to me, ‘I’m not sure I can do this.’” Simon said he was able to talk Britney into staying, and now she’s loving the job.

BYNES’ DRIVERS LICENSE SUSPENDED

California drivers can breathe a sigh of relief – Amanda Bynes is off the road. TMZ reports that after Bynes was charged Thursday with two misdemeanor counts of hit and run, the California DMV suspended her license. DMV wouldn’t say why her license was suspended, but it shouldn’t be hard to figure out. She was charged Thursday  in connection with two accidents, one that occurred on August 10^th and another on August 4^th. She was also charged with DUI back in April.

COOPER EXPLAINS WHY HE GAVE UP BOOZE AND DRUGS!

Bradley Cooper has opened up to the Hollywood Reporter about his past problems with drugs and alcohol.  He says he finally decided to give both up after he deliberately harmed himself just to appear “tough.” “I was at a party and deliberately bashed my head on the concrete floor. Like, ‘hey, look how tough I am,’” he said. “I did it again. And I spent the night at St. Vincent’s Hospital with a sock of ice waiting for them to stich me up.”  After that, Cooper completely quit both vices, and has been sober for eight years. “I don’t drink or do drugs anymore. Being sober helps a great deal. I remember looking at my life, my apartment, my dogs [when I was still using], and I thought, "What's happening?,"' he explained. “I was so concerned what you thought of me, how I was coming across, how I would survive the day…I realized I wasn't going to live up to my potential, and that scared the hell out of me. I thought, ‘Wow, I'm actually gonna ruin my life. I'm really gonna ruin it.’”

TOM DEMANDS TO EAT ALONE!

According to The Sun, the Mission Impossible star arrived at a boutique hotel in Montenegro and demanded they kick out all the guests so he could eat without being bothered. The hotel’s “outraged” manager refused Tom’s orders. “Who does Mr. Cruise think he is?,” he said. “The hotel was full. It would have been unfair to other guests.” So Tom apparently figured out a different way to eat in peace. He got the restaurant to deliver a seafood banquet to his luxury yacht.

Meanwhile, in Vanity Fair’s article about Tom Cruise and Scientology, writer Maureen Orth says the Church was responsible for turning Tom’s kids Isabella and Connor against their mother Nicole Kidman. “The central problem (in the marriage) was Nicole did not want to deal with Scientology,” says former high-ranking Scientologist Marty Rathbun. Isabella and Connor were 8 and 6 at the time, and after the split Kidman was labeled a “Suppressive Person,” which is someone Scientologists feel are toxic to their beliefs. The Church did all they could to make sure Connor and Isabella thought of Nicole in that way.  “They rejected Nicole," said former Scientologist John Brousseau. FRANCO SUED BY FIRED NYU PROFESSOR!

Actor James Franco is being sued by an NYU professor who blames the actor for getting him fired. Former professor Jose Angel Santana claimed he was let go by the university after giving Franco a D because he rarely showed up to class.  Santana previously filed a wrongful termination suit against the school, but is now going after Franco for defamation because the actor, who Santana calls a “bully,” made “disparaging and inaccurate public statements about him.”  Explaining why he rarely showed up to Santana’s class, Franco told reporters, “I didn't feel like I needed to waste my time with a bad teacher.... No teacher will ever be fired from NYU for giving a student a D. He wasn't fired, he was asked not to come back after three years because they didn't think he was a good teacher." Santana is asking for unspecified damages.

DUNCAN FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS ANNOUNCED

Funeral arrangements for The Green Mile’s Michael Clarke Duncan have been set. The actor’s casket will be on public view from 9 am to 2 pm Sunday at the Hall of Liberty at Forest Lawn Memorial Parks and Mortuaries in Los Angeles. A private, invitation only service will be held Monday. The 54-year-old Oscar nominee died September 3^rd, after failing to recover from a heart attack he suffered in July.

Conroy played a ghost trapped in a haunted Los Angeles mansion in season one, and series creator Ryan Murphy says this season she’ll play “the ultimate angel.” Season two, titled American Horror Story: Asylum, premieres October 17^th on FX.
