STRAHAN ANNOUNCED AS KELLY’S NEW CO-HOST!

As expected, it was announced yesterday that former NFL star Michael Strahan will be Kelly Ripa’s permanent co-host on ABC’s Live!, which is now called Live! with Kelly and Michael. “It’s an exciting day around here,” said Ripa. “Nine months and I’m about to give birth to my co-host. Now it’s time for a new era of our show.” She then introduced Strahan, who gave Kelly a huge hug, lifting her off the ground. “We’re like that insane couple from The Bachelor,” said Kelly. “I’m speechless,” said Michael, who added, “I adore you. I’m so happy to be part of this…You know how they say it’s a dream come true. I truly can’t say that because I didn’t know I could even dream this.” But apparently Michael did predict his new gig. Ripa played a clip of his first appearance on the show in 2008, right after the New York Giants won the Super Bowl. JILLIAN MICHAELS RETURNS TO BIGGEST LOSER/SHOW TO TACKLE CHILDHOOD OBESITY!

NBC announced yesterday that trainer Jillian Michaels is returning to The Biggest Loser.  The 14^th season kicks off in January and will feature the show’s first set of teen participants.  The program says it’s on a new “mission” to fight the national increase in childhood obesity, and will feature youths between the ages of 13 and 17. Unlike the adult competitors going after a $250,000 prize, the teens will not be eliminated from the show and they also won’t be weighed on the program.  According to Michaels, the goal is to focus on the kids’  health, not their weight. Said Michaels, “It’s about getting them on the softball team, not into a size four.”

Us Weekly is reporting that The Avengers star Chris Evans is dating actress Minka Kelly. The two stars dated briefly in 2007, before Kelly went on to date New York Yankee Derek Jeter. “She did a number on him back then,” claims a source. “But she reached out to Chris this time.” The couple was spotted dining together in Boston on August 18^th, and then were together again on August 24^th in New York catching the musical The Book of Mormon. HANKS REMEMBERS MICHAEL CLARKE DUNCAN

Tom Hanks is mourning the loss of his good friend and The Green Mile co-star Michael Clarke Duncan, who died Monday at the age of 54. “I am terribly saddened at the loss of Big Mike. He was the treasure we all discovered on the set of The Green Mile. He was magic,” said Hanks in a statement. “He was a big love of man and his passing leaves us stunned.” Frank Darabont, who directed Duncan in the film, said that he was “devastated” by the news of the actor’s death.  “[Michael was] one of the finest people I’ve ever had the privilege to work with or know,” he said. “Michael was the gentlest of souls - an exemplar of decency, integrity and kindness. The sadness I feel is inexpressible.”

DUNCAN PLANNED TO WED OMAROSA IN JANUARY

Meanwhile, TMZ reports that Michael Clarke Duncan and fiancée Omarosa Manigault were planning a January wedding. Sources tell the site the couple had kept their engagement a secret from the media, and had just started planning the wedding when Michael had his heart attack in July.  TMZ also reports that when Duncan first went into cardiac arrest in July, he went without oxygen for more than five minutes before Omarosa was able to revive him using CPR. Sources tell the site that those five minutes damaged his organs so badly, he was never able to fully recover from his heart attack, and his body slowly started to shut down.

ROBERTS POSTPONES SURGERY FOR MOM’S FUNERAL

Robin Roberts has postponed her bone marrow transplant in order to attend her mother’s funeral.  The GMA host’s mother died Thursday night, just moments after Roberts made it home to her bedside.  "My family tells me momma gave me one final gift as her last act. She waited for me to get home on Thursday to say goodbye,” Roberts wrote on Facebook. "She was there when I took my first breath and what a privilege to hold her sweet hand when she took her last breath." Roberts added, "Momma knew she wasn't physically able to be with me for my bone marrow transplant. My siblings say mom wanted to spare me the agony it would have been if she had passed and I couldn't be there. That thought was weighing heavily on me."

● His ex-wife was a judge on American Idol, and now Marc Anthony is joining the rival show The X Factor. According to TMZ, the Latin crooner will join Justin Bieber as a celebrity mentor on the Fox show, which premieres September 12^th.

● The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will once again air on CBS.   The event, which returns to New York this year, will air Tuesday, December 4^th and feature world-famous Victoria’s Secret Angels Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima and Doutzen Kroes.

● Former 106 & Park co-host Terrence Jenkins will replace Ryan Seacrest as co-host of E! News. Earlier this year, Seacrest announced he’d be scaling back his on air E! duties in order to accommodate his busy schedule. He will still host and produce E!’s red carpet award show coverage. As for Jenkins, he will join Giuliana Rancic at the E! News desk starting November 12^th.

● CBS has landed Shawn Ryan’s TV reboot of Beverly Hills Cop. The film’s star, Eddie Murphy, will reprise his role of wise cracking detective Axel Foley in the pilot for the show, which revolves around Foley’s son Aaron, a cop working in Beverly Hills.  Murphy’s role is expected to be recurring if the show goes to series.

● FX has announced the premiere dates for their fall schedule. Sons of Anarchy will kick off its fifth season with a 90-minute episode on Tuesday, September 11^th at 10 pm. American Horror Story: Asylum, the second season of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series, will premiere Wednesday, October 17^th at 10 pm.  Finally, the eighth season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will kick off October 11^th at 10 pm, followed by the fourth season of The League at 10:30 pm, and the second season of Russell Brand’s BrandX at 11 pm.
