Best And Worst Halloween Candy Options For Children's Teeth from KnowYourTeeth.com Worst: •Chewy/sticky sweets, such as gummy candies, taffy, and even dried fruit can be difficult for children and adults to resist, and even more difficult to remove from teeth. "These candies are a serious source of tooth decay, particularly when they get stuck in the crevices between teeth, making it nearly impossible for saliva to wash them away," Dr. Sherwood says. •Sour candies are highly acidic and can break down tooth enamel quickly. The good news: Saliva slowly helps to restore the natural balance of the acid in the mouth. Dr. Sherwood recommends that patients wait 30 minutes to brush their teeth after consuming sour/acidic candies; otherwise, they will be brushing the acid onto more tooth surfaces and increasing the risk of enamel erosion. •Sugary snacks, including candy corn, cookies, and cake, all contain high amounts of sugar, which can cause tooth decay. Best: •Sugar-free lollipops and hard candies stimulate saliva, which can help prevent dry mouth. "A dry mouth allows plaque to build up on teeth faster, leading to an increased risk of cavities," Dr. Sherwood says. •Sugar-free gum can actually prevent cavities as it not only dislodges food particles from between the teeth but also increases saliva—which works to neutralize the acids of the mouth and prevent tooth decay. •Dark chocolate and its antioxidants, according to some studies, can be good for the heart and may even lower blood pressure. |
Horse Whisperer Busts Cheater: London horse whisperer Anne Dee says a stallion recently told her his male owner was cheating. “The horse told me he was worried the owners were going to split up. He said he didn’t like his new mum as she petted him too much and wore strong perfume. The wife was there while I was doing the consultation and I felt I had to tell her. She said she’d suspected her husband for years and that he’d come home smelling of Dior perfume. I made a quick exit after that.” After Anne told the wife what the stallion had said to her, the marriage fell apart.
MyPhone: A pregnant mother chased a thug through a New York park after he stole her iPhone. Rachel Massey says, “I don’t think a 16-year-old kid really knows how sleep-deprived mothers really are. I just reacted. I felt angry and violated, and I was probably in shock. I probably have weird hormones now. I should have felt more fear than I did. The kid was walking . . . about 16 and wearing a black hooded sweat shirt. He was walking directly towards me,” she said. “I was like, ‘What does this kid want?’ ” Massey said, noting that “He seemed a bit nervous. He came at me with the gun out at his waist. It was pointed at my torso . . . I never had a gun pointed at me before. He said, ‘Give me your phone!’ I gave it him. I ran after him because I was trying to bring attention to him. He was running faster than I’ve ever seen anyone run,” she said. “I was yelling something to the effect of ‘Keep an eye on that kid. He has a gun!’ and ‘Call the cops!''' A group of people cornered the teen before he gave up the phone and ran.
What A Hoot: An Australian insomniac is offering $40 per hour to anyone, who will dress as an owl and watch over her as she sleeps. Susan's ad reads: “I have always found great comfort in the idea that owls are the natural lookouts of our world and so it would really help. I’d be prepared to pay you up to $40 if you were to wear the costume and maybe $35 if you don’t want the costume but will stick a feather or two to your forehead. I will provide you one muesli bar if you get hungry but no dinner breaks. I’d prefer if you didn’t face me when you ate the bar as I would find that very off-putting even if I’m already asleep."
Kris Jenner has allegedly spent $250,000 on plastic surgery. A source tells the National Enquirer, “Kris is obsessed with looking like she’s still in her 30s or 40s, but all the work she’s done to her face has backfired. She’s starting to look like those horrible Beverly Hills women that everyone laughs at behind their backs. She looks fine from far away, but once you get close you can see all the work she’s had done. Kris says it’s her money and she’ll do whatever she wants, even if it means permanently changing her appearance.”
Justin Timberlake serenaded Jessica Biel on their wedding day. A source tells Us Weekly, ''Questlove played a bunch of Justin Timberlake songs, but no *NSYNC. Justin performed one song at the wedding. It's a new one that he hasn't released yet. He dedicated it to Jessica.''
Jessica Biel wants kids. A source tells RADAR Online, “Jessica’s hitched and now she’s ready for a baby, as soon as possible! After her dream Italian wedding, Jessica told Justin that she is ready to have his children and she wants him to start thinking about building a family too. Jessica has been gearing up for motherhood for a while, but being the traditionalist she is, wanted to wait till after she got married. She is planning for two kids, ideally a boy and a girl, because she grew up with a younger brother herself and believes it’s healthy to have siblings. And it couldn’t be a more perfect time to start making babies – they both have a break in their schedules to put in the ground work!"
Emily Maynard and Jef Holm are not reconciling. A source tells RADAR Online, "Emily and Jeff are definitely over and have absolutely no plans to get back together. They are trying to remain amicable though and he was getting his things ready to pack up and leave North Carolina over the weekend when they were photographed together. Jef will be headed back to Utah in the next several days. They are extremely saddened that the relationship didn't work out but truly are hopeful they can be friends. Jef just wasn't ready to be a dad to Ricki and didn't realize the commitment that would be required of him by having this little girl in his life."
Paula Abdul and Carrie Ann Inaba are allegedly feuding. A source tells the National Enquirer, ''She thinks Paula’s a tremendous scene-stealer. Carrie Ann loves being the only female judge, and she’s suddenly looking at Paula as competition, even though Paula’s gig is temporary. Carrie Ann knows Paula has a loyal fan base and is terrified she’s moving in on her territory.''
Adele's next CD will be upbeat and positive. A source says, ''Adele has been working for the last few months. Her music is based around how happy she is with Simon and the changes that come from being a mother. She has a few tunes and people will be surprised by the new sound, it's incredible. Talk about her disappearing for years is nonsense. She will be caring for her son until Christmas but it is her intention to have some mixes finished for an album as early as next autumn.'' |
Pink hasn't done drugs since she was 15. She tells Shape magazine, "It wasn't to the point of going to the hospital, but I remember getting up off the floor in the morning - and that was the last time I ever touched a drug again. I'm a wino! I'm taking online classes to learn about different grapes. My dream is to own a winery."
Taylor Swift wasn't a boy magnet in school. She says, ''I was never a boy magnet at school. There was always the girl all the guys liked and wanted to date, but it was never me. It would have been fun to find out what that would have been like, though. I’ve always been a girl’s girl. I used to hate being tall. All the cool girls were the same perfect height and I was a head taller than them. I felt weird about it until I got older and then every once in a while someone would compliment me on my height. I started thinking, ‘Well, maybe this isn’t something I should hate any more.''
Taylor Swift says her past boyfriends have been jealous of her success. “I’ve found that men I’ve dated who are in the same business can be really competitive. I’ve found a great group of girlfriends in the same business who aren’t competitive, but a few times guys have started comparing careers and it has been… challenging. The last thing I think about when I fall for someone is what they do for a living as I like to get to know that person, but sometimes guys start acting weirdly towards me, especially if I get good news and they get bad… It’s usually downhill from there. It’s mind-blowing how some guys have just handed me inspiration for some of these songs on a plate. Some have said, ‘Please don’t write about me,’ but only when we’re in the process of breaking up. If a man dates me, he’s kind of signing a waiver saying he’s cool with me writing songs about him. I write songs about my life: it’s not something I’ve kept secret.”
Taylor Swift has yet to sign on for the Joni Mitchell movie. She says, "That's actually not confirmed. I wish I could say it's confirmed! But the thing about movies that I've learned is - I've been reading scripts for five years, and you just don't know what ones are going to get greenlit and which ones aren't, so I can't talk about it unless it's the real thing... I would love to sign on to do a movie if it was the right role and if it was the right script, because I would be taking time away from music to tell a big grand story, and spend all of my time and pouring all of my emotions into being someone else. So for me to do that, it would have to be a story worth telling."
Christina Aguilera enjoys working with Blake Shelton on The Voice. She says, "I adore Blake... All the guys (on The Voice) and I are close but Blake in particular. We used to have a seat next to each other, we banter a lot, we make jokes, we make fun of the other guys... He's just a good time, he's a good country boy. We have a song called Just A Fool on the record and it's my first approach at trying a little country."
