QUIKKIES: 4 weird things that make people like you & the people that say their job makes the world a worse place!

By Vikki Locke

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel married on Friday in Italy. Andy Samburg and Jimmy Fallon attended the fireworks-laden wedding. A source says, “Powerful lights were focused away from the church to keep prying eyes away. There were also masses of security guards outside the venue. Even the guests were kept in the dark about the location until the last minute. They were flown out from the States on Monday and landed in Frankfurt with no further instructions. They were then given an itinerary and tickets to the south of Italy. That was part of a ploy to keep fans confused about the final destination.”

The Immaterial Girl: Madonna is under fire for using guns during her Denver concert. Many thought the exhibition was in poor taste because of the Aurora, Colorado shootings.

Angry fans Tweeted:

“Really, Madonna? Keep Denver waiting 3 hours, then open with guns? And pretend to shoot people in the front of the theater? And that’s art?”

“Madonna 3 hours late for Pepsi Center concert with no apology, then proceeds with ‘Bang Bang’ in city plagued with gun violence.”

Madonna released a statement saying: “I do not condone violence or the use of guns. Rather they are symbols of wanting to appear strong and wanting to find a way to stop feelings that I find hurtful or damaging. In my case it’s wanting to stop the lies and hypocrisy of the church, the intolerance of many narrow minded cultures and societies I have experienced throughout my life and in some cases the pain I have felt from having my heart broken.”

Tom Cruise is allegedly having a midlife crisis. A source tells the National Enquirer, “Tom’s trying to look cool and go out and be hip. But he just looks silly and icky. He’s going through a midlife crisis. He’s lost his place. As a husband and father. Tom is very nervous about being eased out of big action-star roles. I don’t think he knows how to be single. Tom just doesn’t know how to fit in.”

ZZZZZZZZZ

A new study by the State University of New York reveals that people get sleepy during the day because offices and classrooms have high levels of carbon dioxide. Researchers say the primary source of indoor carbon dioxide is humans. While typical outdoor concentrations are around 380 parts per million (ppm), indoor concentrations can go up to several thousand ppm. Higher levels indoors are usually due to poor ventilation, often a result of the need to reduce a building’s energy consumption. Although their study only tested decision making and not learning, the researchers say it’s possible that students in poorly ventilated classrooms - or rooms in which a large number of people are gathered to take a test - could also be at a disadvantage.

The producers want to change things up and film in Los Angeles this time but they want to be respectful of Emily’s daughter Ricki so they’ll shoot around her school schedule and vacations. ABC loves Emily, there are tons of Emily fans and the producers think it could be an amazing twist that would really get people watching, even if it is haters tuning in to see what she will do a third time!”

Being successful means I can pick and choose the projects I like."

A source tells Hollywoodlife.com, “The reason Rob has decided on taking her (KStew) back is that they have been together for so long and became world wide stars together and Rob feels that he can not have that connection with anyone els. Rob is afraid of testing the waters in the dating pool. He really loves her and is scared [of] what others might do to him in a relationship. He thinks that they might use him or have different intentions. He is comfortable with Kristen, and he is happy with her, and she knows it. He feels that she is the best for him.”

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are fighting over money. A source tells the NY Post, ''Kutcher and Moore are trying to negotiate a settlement out of court and out of the public eye, but they still haven’t reached an agreement over money, because Ashton earned substantially more during the final years of their marriage, but he doesn’t want to pay a large settlement.”

Before Connor Kennedy, Taylor Swift was going to commit to One Direction's Harry Styles until she found out he kissed model Emma Ostilly. A source tells Perez Hilton, "Taylor really liked Harry and even though they weren't exclusive, he hinted at making it official with her just before he took off to Australia. He even told Taylor he didn't want her to see anybody else while he was gone! Taylor had her love goggles on and didn't care what anybody had to say about Harry. Then, Taylor had all these texts from Harry begging for a chance to explain and telling her not to believe everything she reads. She immediately googled Harry and found all the stories and pictures of him kissing Emma. She was heartbroken

Katy Perry has fallen for John Mayer. A source tells Hollywoodlife.com, “It’s the real deal,. They just understand each other and Katy is happy to be with someone who isn’t uptight and controlling. John is all about having fun, and so is Katy. John likes being around Katy because she isn’t needy. She is very strong and independent, and gives him the impression that she can take him or leave him! Even though Katy is acting aloof, she’s pretty much crazy about him. John could be the ONE for Katy, she’s never felt this way.”

Donald Trump Tweeted: ''@katyperry is no bargain but I don't like John Mayer. he dates and tells - be careful Katy (just watch!) (sic).''

A source tells OK magazine, "She doesn't want to be just another one of his conquests. She recently told John she was open to seeing other people," the insider continued. "Once Katy turned her back on him, he started chasing her again!"

Ellie Goulding sought therapy in 2010 for panic attacks. She tells the Daily Star, "I couldn't even leave the house, so I decided to have therapy. A few weeks ago, I felt the attacks coming back, but I can handle them now."

Adele has given birth to a baby boy.

Kelly Clarkson is voting for Barack Obama. She tells the Daily Star, “I’ve been reading online about the debates and I’m probably going to vote for Obama again, even though I’m a Republican at heart. I can’t support Romney’s policies as I have a lot of gay friends and I don’t think it’s fair they can’t get married. I’m not a hardcore feminist but we can’t be going back to the 50s. I am a big fan of First Lady Michelle Obama because she has been busy promoting better education and healthy diets, which is something we could all use a dose of reality on.”

Pink plans to tour with her daughter. She says, “It’s just pure joy for Carey and me. Willow has made us more fun — we’re this cool little threesome. Next year, we’re taking her on the road and calling it the Willow Tour, because as long as it works for her, I’m there.''

Barack Obama recently gave Jay-Z parenting advice. He says, ''I made sure that Jay-Z was helping Beyonce out [with Blue Ivy, 10 months]. And not leaving it all with mom and the mother-in-law. I've gotten to know these guys over the first several years. They're good people. They're down to earth. Beyonce could not be sweeter to Michelle and the girls. So they're good friends. They really are down-to-earth folks. We talk about the same things I talk about with all my friends.''

Taylor Swift used her first royalty check to buy the Lexus SC430 convertible driven by Rachel McAdams in Mean Girls. She says, "All the girls who were mean to me in middle school idolized The Plastics. I think I chose that car as a kind of rebellion against that type of girl. It was like - you guys never invited me to anything, you guys are obsessed with that car and that girl and what The Plastics wear and how they talk and you quote them all the time, but I've been working really hard every single day. And instead of going to parties I've been writing songs and playing shows and getting really small pay checks that have added up and now I get to buy a car - and guess which one I'm going to buy?''

Taylor Swift often talks to her fans about relationships. She says, “I end up in conversations about relationships no matter what. When I talk to fans and I see them in public or I run into them at Starbucks or at the airport or something, they always ask me about their boyfriend issues, and I love it! It’s my favorite thing to talk about. I just love talking about love. I love writing about love. I love thinking about love because it’s so unpredictable.”

Taylor Swift is worried about finding true love. She says, ''I think that one thing I'm really afraid of is ... that magic doesn't last. That butterflies and daydreams and love, all these things that I hold so dear, are going to leave some day. 'I haven't had a relationship that's lasted forever. I only know about them starting and ending. Those are my fears. I spend a lot of time balancing between faith and disbelief. A fairytale is an interesting concept. There's 'happily ever after' at the end, but that's not a part of our world. Everything is an ongoing storyline and you're always battling the complexities of life. But what I got from fairytales, growing up, was a beautiful daydream. I'm glad I had the craziest imagination and believed in all sorts of things that don't exist.''

TMZ has confirmed that Taylor Swift bought a Cape Cod home near the Kennedy's for $4.5 million. It features 7 bedrooms, 6 baths and 4,400 square feet.

Four Weird Things That Make People Like You

A lot of things determine how likable you are.  Obviously your looks and your personality are two BIG ones.  But here are four WEIRD things that make people like you more.

#1.)  Asking for a Favor.  But only if you say "thank you" afterward.  Studies have found that asking for a favor and saying "thank you" actually make you more likeable than DOING a favor for someone.

--It's partly because we subconsciously like it when someone OWES us a favor.  It's also because when YOU do someone a favor, they forget about it pretty quickly.  But when they do YOU a favor and you THANK them, it sticks in their mind.

(--It's actually called the "Ben Franklin effect," because Franklin realized that if you can get someone to do a favor for you, it tricks them into suddenly thinking they like you . . . even if they HATED you before.)

#2.)  How Good Looking Your Friends Are.  Researchers tested this one by setting up two fake Facebook accounts that were exactly the same.  The only difference was, one of them had HOT friends, and the other didn't.

--Then they showed both profiles to people, and asked if they'd like to meet the person.  In the end, people were 20% more likely to want to meet the one with good-looking Facebook friends.

#3.)  Wearing Clothes with Brand Names on Them.  They don't even have to be NICE brand names.  Just having ANY brand name on your shirt makes you more likeable, because it makes people more likely to TRUST you.

--In one study, two groups of researchers collected money for charity:  Some of them were in plain clothes, and some were in clothing with brand names.  And the ones with brand names got twice as many donations.

#4.)  Embarrassing Yourself in Public.  A bunch of studies have shown that when people see you embarrassed, it makes them think you're nicer and more trustworthy.

--It makes sense when you think about it, because if you're the kind of person who gets embarrassed easily, then you're also more likely to be nice to people so you AVOID embarrassing situations.

--But obviously it's ironic, since we try so hard NOT to embarrass ourselves in public.

Fast Food Workers, Casino Dealers, and Telemarketers Say Their Jobs Make the World a Worse Place . . . Here's the Top 10

Back in February, the website PayScale.com surveyed workers on whether their jobs make the world a worse place.  Fast food workers were BY FAR the most likely to say yes.  Bartenders, attorneys, and fashion designers were next.

--Well . . . PayScale couldn't even wait a full year before they ran the survey again, so today we have a NEW list of people who say their job makes the world a worse place.  And, of course, fast food workers are on top again.  Here's the full top 10:

#1.)  Fast food workers.  38.4% say they make the world worse.  That's actually DOWN from the survey earlier this year, when it was 42.3%.

 #2.)  Casino dealers, 17.6%.

 #3.)  Telemarketers, 9.4%.

 #4.)  TV newscast directors, 8.1%.

 #5.)  Bartenders, 6.7%.

 #6.)  Loan collectors, 4.9%.

 #7.)  Fashion designers, 4.9%.

 #8.)  Investment banking associates, 4.6%.

 #9.)  Senior attorneys, 4.4%.

#10.)  Credit or collections supervisors, 4.1%.

--By the way, out of EVERYONE surveyed, only 1% say their job makes the world a worse place.
