8 Best And Worst Foods For Sleep from health.com

Cherries Best
Cherries are one of the few natural foods to contain melatonin, the chemical that helps control our body’s internal clock. One study—albeit a small one—found that drinking tart cherry juice resulted in small improvements in sleep duration and quality in adults who suffered from chronic insomnia.

Bacon Cheeseburger Worst
The stratospheric fat content of this particular fast food is guaranteed to be a sleep killer. Fat stimulates the production of acid in the stomach, which can spill up into your esophagus, causing heartburn. Fatty foods can also loosen the lower esophageal sphincter, the barrier between the stomach and the esophagus, making it even easier for acid to get in all the wrong places. In fact, there’s almost nothing to recommend this kind of high-fat, salt-laden indulgence if you want to preserve your health, including the quality of your sleep.

Milk Best
You may have fond memories of your mother or grandmother making you a glass of warm milk to help you fall asleep. This may not be just an old wives’ tale. Milk contains the amino acid tryptophan, a precursor to the brain chemical serotonin. Although the topic is a controversial one, some people believe that tryptophan and serotonin might make it easier to sleep. Or maybe a simple glass of milk brings back soothing childhood memories, which help you drift off.

Wine Worst
Alcohol of any kind is “terrible” for sleep. Why? It metabolizes quickly in your system and causes you to wake up multiple times during the night. One study found that a glass of bourbon or vodka mixed with caffeine-free soda at bedtime increased the amount of time women spent awake during the night by 15 minutes. It also reduced nightly sleep time by 19 minutes and diminished quality of sleep.

Jasmine Rice Best
Jasmine rice ranks high on the glycemic index, meaning the body digests it slowly, releasing glucose gradually into the bloodstream. A 2007 study in the "American Journal of Clinical Nutrition" found that consuming jasmine rice four hours before bedtime cut the amount of time it took to fall asleep in half when compared with eating a high-glycemic-index meal at the same time interval.

Coffee Worst
Coffee contains caffeine, which is a central nervous stimulant. Translation: Drinking Java too close to bedtime will keep you up at night. Of course, people differ in their sensitivity to caffeine and that’s usually based on how much caffeine you’re accustomed to consuming.

Fortified Cereal Best
Carbs in general are good for sleep but it’s not a great idea to binge on a box of cookies before bedtime (or anytime). Instead, try a bowl of Kashi or shredded wheat which contain “good” or complex carbs. Even better, cereal goes well with milk which has its own sleep-promoting qualities. “

Dark Chocolate Worst
Chocolate contains not only calories, but caffeine, especially dark chocolate. A 1.55-ounce Hershey’s milk chocolate bar, for instance, contains about 12 milligrams of caffeine, or the same amount as three cups of decaffeinated coffee. A Hershey’s special-dark bar has 20 milligrams of caffeine, about the same as half an ounce of espresso. Chocolate also contains theobromine, another stimulant that can increase heart rate and sleeplessness.

Name Game: The Honduran Government is once again seeking to end a craze that has parents naming their children after car parts. They say names like Spark Plug and Spare Wheel are unacceptable for children because it will force them to go through life with names that others can make fun of. Under state law, children can sue their parents if they are given demeaning names.

Robert Pattinson didn't propose to Kristen Stewart. He tells Tu magazine, "Some time ago I read in a magazine that I was getting married to Kristen. They explained how I had proposed marriage. Apparently I took [Kristen] to a beach and we were both in flowing robes, and I played a song on my guitar. It’s shameful, not only because they invented something but because it also made me look like the biggest idiot in the world. Why can they not invent that I proposed in a spaceship or something more fun?"

Robert Pattinson wants a boy. He tells Star Club magazine, "I think that I'd have a better understanding with a boy. Girls are hard to understand. The instruction manual that comes with them is 800 pages long and written in Chinese! And if you know how to read it, you realize that you're still missing 32 more chapters that are essential and you have to improvise. Whereas with a boy, it's easy. Sports, TV, a video game, some Coke and he's happy."

One Million Moms is protesting JLo's new show The Fosters. The ABC Family series is about two mothers raising biological and adoptive children. One Million Moms says, "Obviously, ABC has lost their minds. ABC's Family Channel has several anti-family programs, and…many families have already discovered that ABC Family Channel is anything but family-friendly. The series is attempting to redefine marriage and family by having two moms raise these children together. One Million Moms is not sure how the explanation will be given on how the biological children were conceived. Let's stop this dead in it its tracks."

So I don't know where I don't know when I just know I want to fly 500 people to Vegas.''

He's excited and can’t wait to announce it!”

A source tells RADAR Online, "Kim is very upset that there are reports out there Reggie has gotten Lilit pregnant. Kim had pressured Reggie for a very long time to get married while they were together because she wanted to have a family with him. Reggie just thought that Kim placed too much of a priority on her fame and reality television though and he wanted none of it. Reggie was a part of the Kardashian family for over five years and deep down Kim has always held out hope that they would end up together, even though she married Kris Humphries. She feels it is a slap in the face that Reggie would consider having a baby with this woman when he wouldn't with her."

Taylor Swift dined with a member of One Direction following a London awards show. A source tells the Sun, ''Taylor's team whisked her off to Luton after the awards. She had a private jet at Luton Airport ready to take her back to the US at 10pm. 'All her staff were told she was having a private dinner with one of the guys from One Direction. 'It was all cancelled abruptly, and nothing more was said.''

Beyonce doesn't want Jay-Z to get involved with Rihanna and Chris Brown's relationship. A source tells Now magazine, ''She's told Jay that Ri-Ri's beyond hope and just isn't their problem. This drama has been going on for so long and people get hurt because she won't grow up. Bey wants Jay to keeps his distance.''

Lady GaGa was recently performing 'Edge of Glory' in Spain when she vomited. She Tweeted: "Was praying nobody saw but actually its quite a good laugh if u need one!"

Chris Brown has been talking to Karreuche Tran. A source tells RADAR Online, “Chris has been in constant communication with Karrueche ever since she dumped him. She ended it with Chris because he was just blatantly flaunting his dalliances with Rihanna, but now he’s telling how sorry he is, and how much he loves her. She is just too hurt to even go there at this point. Karrueche just wants a break from all of this drama, and she knows that Chris wants whatever he can’t have. Karrueche thinks Chris has a lot of maturing he needs to do, and she can’t trust him.”

A source tells Hollywoodlife.com, “She’s cool and hopes she taught him how to love and how to be a better person. They had a good relationship, but Karrueche is not about to be played by nobody – not even Chris Brown. She ain’t feeling him no more.”

Another source says, “Right now, it’s pretty much on with Chris and Ri. I mean, they been doing their thing for months now. They on top on the world and they know that and them together – man, that’s just the business.”

Taylor Swift loves Ellie Goulding. She says, "I met Ellie Goulding last night and she's the coolest girl. I've been obsessed with her songs for years so I felt a bit fan girl-ish. I know all the words to her new song."

Walgreens has launched the “Taylor Swift Store at Walgreens” featuring t-shirts, bracelets, backpacks, tour books, posters, journals, notebooks, calendars and iPhone and iPad accessories among other items.

We hadn’t slept in forever. Hindsight is 20/20… it was a tremendous undertaking… It catches up with you a little bit. We definitely jumped off a moving train.”

Steven Tyler had to re-record Aerosmith's new song, "Can't Stop Loving You''. He says, "I sang the song a little country. One of the guys in the band said, 'You need to re-sing it. You're singing it too country. I said, that's how I wrote it! Marty [Frederiksen, co-writer] and I were just talking about it, you know, if it gets on the radio, it sounds like a country song, 'Why not get one of them thar people to sing on it?' [affecting a country accent]. I called Carrie Underwood up because she's a friend of mine. She was in L.A., but she was leaving that next morning and I said, 'Ooh, get over here quick!' The rest is history. She sang on it, and it's perfect. It's one of those moments that just is."
