QUIKKIES: Why you should NOT buy popcorn at the movies & 10 ways "Fifty Shades of Grey" is ruining the world!

By Vikki Locke

Channing Tatum is People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive

- Gen. David Petraeus is featured in "Call of Duty II." Unlike real life, he gets promoted from CIA Director to Secretary of Defense.

- Survivor star Lisa Whelchel has West Nile virus. She has not said where or when she believes she contracted the West Nile virus.

- Kristin Chenoweth and Bachelor Jake Pavelka are dating.

- A judge has denied Hulk Hogan's request to have his sex tape removed from the net.

When You Care To Send The Very Best: Gilded Age Greetings is selling a $5,000 Christmas card. The hand-painted card features 23k gold, precious stones and white gloves for proper handling. A Chanukah card sells for $2,500.

Computer Alert: Norton says computer hackers are using Breaking Dawn Part 2 to infect computers with viruses. They are sending fake Emails that contain worms that steal personal information. Twi-hards are being urged not to open Emails or click on links that promise:

• "Nude pictures of Taylor Lautner"

• "Robert and Kristen kissing"

• "Twilight true love"

No Smoking: Seventy percent of smokers want to quit. The American Cancer Society estimates that smokers with a pack-a-day habit can save more than $2,300 a year by quitting. Smoking causes 438,000 deaths in the United States each year, including 38,000 deaths among non-smokers. 9% of ex-smokers have started smoking again because of the poor economy. 28% of smokers say money worries have prompted them to consider quitting, while 21% have saved cash by switching to a cheaper brand of cigarettes

Elmo Update: The man, who accused Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash of having sex with him when he was a teenage boy, has recanted his story. "Sesame Street" says, “Kevin has asked for some additional time to put this ordeal behind him, which we totally understand.” The Smoking Gun says the accuser, Sheldon Stephens, is a struggling model, who was once arrested for stealing $250,000 in jewelry from a music manager.

A Modern Family staffer says Ariel Winter's mother, Chrystal, has been mean to her. The staffer tells the Sun Times, “I’ve seen many, many stage mothers and stage fathers, but never have I seen someone who was so openly mean to the young star who was her meal ticket. The entire cast was aware of how much Ariel has been going through.” Chrystal was charged with both physical and emotional abuse of her daughter.

Why you should never ever buy popcorn at the movies among other things !  xfinity.comcast.net

Movie theater popcorn/candy What’s harder to digest: (1) Movie theater popcorn has an average markup of 1,275 percent, or (2) With a soda, that popcorn has a caloric equivalent of three McDonald’s Quarter Pounders? Nutrition aside, concessions like $5 tubs of popcorn and $6 boxes of gummy worms are big revenue streams for movie theaters. Since most theaters prohibit moviegoers from bringing in outside food and drinks, the way to save is to bypass concessions altogether. If you can’t, find your cinematic savings elsewhere, like getting a five-pack of movie tickets for $30 at CinemaDeals.com.

Prescription drugs Astronomical prescription drug prices – with markups ranging from 200 to 3,000 percent – are enough to give patients a headache. In fact, price hikes caught the eye of Arizona’s Attorney General Tom Horne, who is suing pharmaceuticals distributor McKesson Corp. for markups on Allegra, Celebrex, Coumadin, Flonase, Lipitor, and Valium. To save on prescriptions, ask your doctor for free samples and about generic substitutes. Comparison-shopping is also a great idea. Walmart, Target, and warehouse stores like Costco are good places to start. And take advantage of mail-order suppliers like Express Scripts if your prescription-drug plan offers it.

Diamonds Shoppers in the market for a diamond should be prepared to pay anywhere from 50 percent to 200 percent more than the wholesale cost, according to TheStreet.com. A diamond’s sparkle may cause shoppers to turn a blind eye to the price tag, but you can land a better deal by understanding what you’re buying and doing a lot of shopping.

Bottled water Some claim bottled water’s markup reaches 4,000 percent – more expensive than gasoline. Saving is simple: drink tap water. If you’re concerned about taste or quality, use a water filtration system.

Salad bars Some salad bar items are marked up more than 350 percent, according to Food Network Magazine. Items that aren’t worth their weight: chickpeas (386 percent markup over retail), radishes (302 percent), and baby corn (277 percent). To save, load up on the lighter items that cost less than you’d pay at the grocery store, like bacon bits (55 percent markdown) and grilled chicken (44 percent).

Eyeglass frames Dishing out $450 for Armani frames? Markups for eyeglass frames can reach 1,000 percent. That’s certainly not unheard of. Fortunately, focusing on warehouse stores and the Internet can help you find discounts.

Fountain soda Order a glass of Coke when you’re dining out, and you could pay 300 to 600 percent over cost. Sure, you know going into a restaurant that you’re paying for the service and ambiance too. But if you’re looking to save without sacrificing a night out, skip the extras like soda and opt for water instead.

Text messages Outgoing text messages on a cell phone can cost the provider three-tenths of a cent, but users up to 20 cents – that translates to a 6,000 percent markup. Some plans charge 10,000 times more for sending a text than other types of data. If you frequently send text messages, get an unlimited plan.

- second-hand smoke is the third-leading cause of preventable death in the U.S., behind only smoking and alcohol and drug abuse.

- second-hand smoke contains more than 4,000 chemicals, with more than 50 of them being known carcinogens.

Other - 8%

- 21% of those, who plan to shop in stores or online on Black Friday plan to spend more this year than they did last year. Fifty-two percent plan to spend the same amount, while 18% plan to spend less.

She Works Hard For the Money

A new study by LSE reveals that women, who fear their marriage is breaking down begin working longer hours as a 'form of insurance'. Scientists have worked out that for every 1% increase in the risk of marital breakdown, woman put in an extra twelve minutes a week.

Black Friday Sales: The Big Guide To Deals, Stores And Opening Times from dailyfinance.com

Walmart
Hours: Doors open Thursday at 8 p.m., except where prohibited by law. Friday shoppers can get a second round of deals starting at 5 a.m.

Status: Confirmed

The Thursday night deals will come in two waves. The first wave, starting at 8, will consist mainly of toys, games and home goods. One big deal is the Nintendo Wii console for just $89, a good $40 below MSRP. Just keep in mind that by that point, the Wii will be the last-generation system: The next-generation Wii U comes out on Nov. 18. You can also get a six-quart crock pot for just $9.44, or an air hockey table for $29.86.

10 p.m. is when the big electronics go on sale. The iPad 2 -- again, a last-generation product -- is at its usual price of $399, but Walmart will give you a $75 store gift card with your purchase. There is also an Emerson 32-inch TV for $148, as well as an LG Blu-ray player for $38. All three products come with a guarantee -- if any are sold out by 11 p.m., you can purchase a "guarantee card" that you can redeem for the product online.

Sears
Hours: Doors open Thursday at 8 p.m.

Status: Confirmed

Sears' circular features some big appliance and electronics deals. On Thursday night there is a 32-inch TV for just $97, marked down from $250, as well as a Kenmore fridge for $1,299.99, a savings of $1,000. There is also a 55-inch Samsung LED TV for $879.99, marked down from $1,399.99.

Quantities are limited, of course, but if you aren't able to get there Thursday night, you can wake up early and grab one of the deals reserved for Friday's early risers. Deals that morning include TVs, washing machines, tools and apparel.

While Sears doesn't offer an in-stock guarantee like Walmart, it says that members of its Shop Your Ways rewards program will gain to access some of the doorbusters online starting Sunday, Nov. 18.

Members get the privilege of shopping doorbusters on Sunday from the comfort of home and picking up in store.

Best Buy
Status: Confirmed

Hours: In a rare display of restraint by a retailer this season, Best Buy won't open its doors to Black Friday shoppers until midnight.

Best Buy has released what it's dubbed a "preview" of its Black Friday sales, but the 20-page ad is actually the full circular for that week. Deals include a WiFi-ready Toshiba Blu-ray player, which can be used to access Netflix and Hulu Plus, for just $39.99, a 50% markdown.

The circular also includes a number of online-only deals that will be available for purchase on BestBuy.com on Thanksgiving Day. You'll have to check back on Thanksgiving for the actual prices, but discounted item promised for that day include the Canon EOS Rebel T3 camera. A spokesperson says that the doorbusters in the ad will also be available online, but that supplies will be limited.

Target
Status: Confirmed

Hours: Target will open at 9 p.m. Thursday, except where prohibited by law.

A leaked copy of Target's Black Friday circular had been kicking around the internet for a while, and the retailer finally got around to confirming it with an official announcement on Monday morning. One of the marquee deals in the circular is the Nook Simple Touch marked down from $99 to $49, the best deal we've seen on the e-reader. There is also a 50-inch Westinghouse 1080p TV for just $349, one of the lowest prices we've seen for a TV that size.

There will also be bonus doorbusters starting at 4 a.m. on Friday, including the Fisher-Price Doodlepro Classic for $9.99, marked down from $18.99.

Toys R Us
Hours: Doors open at 8 p.m. Thursday, where permitted by local laws.

Status: Sort of confirmed

Scans of the toy retailer's Black Friday circular appeared online earlier in the month, and while an official ad hasn't yet appeared on the official site, the company more or less confirmed its contents when it announced its Black Friday plans Monday morning. Shoppers who buy the fourth-generation iPod Touch for $199.99 will get a free $20 Toys R Us gift card, plus a $30 iTunes credit. When you buy a full-price Wii U game you can get a second for 40% off. And a second set of deals starts at 5 a.m. Friday on baby products, including high chairs and clothes.

If you'd rather shop from the couch, the doorbusters will also be available online starting at 8 p.m.

Kmart
Hours: Kmart will open at 8 p.m. on Thursday night, close at 3 a.m., then reopen at 5 a.m. As always, local laws might prohibit a Thanksgiving Day opening. Some Massachusetts residents, for instance, won't be able to get in the door until midnight.

Status: Confirmed

Every retailer's Black Friday ad seems to have a super-cheap TV deal on the front page as a way of attracting customers. On price alone, Kmart wins this battle with an $88 Seiki TV on the front of its circular, but note that it's only 24 inches. A better bet might be the 50-inch Proscan LCD TV for just $288, which it says is marked down from $699.99. As you might expect, quantities are limited for both items, so if you're not in line on Thursday night, you're probably out of luck.

J.C. Penney
Hours: Doors will open at 6 a.m. Friday

Status: Confirmed

J.C. Penney has already begun to backtrack a bit on its new no-sales policy, so it's not surprising that it's staying in the Black Friday game (especially in the wake of its dismal third-quarter sales figures). The retailer announced its "only sale of the year" Monday morning, promising additional savings with no coupons required. It also promises that you can shop online on Thanksgiving to get sale prices early.

For now the retailer hasn't released an official circular for Black Friday, though it has announced another kind of promotion. Over the course of the holiday season, sales associates will give out tens of millions of buttons to shoppers, with each button bearing a code that can be entered at JCP.com for a one in four chance at winning a gift. Prizes will include vacations, gift cards ranging from $5 to $500 and select merchandise. You can get your hands on the buttons in stores starting on Black Friday

Beware of Dog: CBS Atlanta recently conducted a study to see which dogs make the best home protectors. Jeff Schettler, who runs the Georgia K9 National Training Center, wore a protective suit and broke into homes featuring Star, a 10-pound papillon mix, a 38-pound Brittany spaniel named Calico; a 29-pound English Staffordshire terrier (aka, pit bull) named Bindi; an 85-pound Rottweiler named Roxie; and Kevlar, a 100-pound German shepherd. Man Swallows 220 Diamonds: The South Africa police recently arrested a man, who was smuggling diamonds. He swallowed 220 diamonds before an airport X-ray machine showed the rocks. The diamonds are worth $2.3 million. Authorities believe the man belongs to a smuggling ring.

Denzel Washington Sees A UFO: A Flint, Michigan teen, named Denzel Washington, recently spotted a UFO. He says, ''It was something as long as five cars, as wide as two vehicles, that hovered in the sky without making a noise and disappeared in the blink of an eye. Not just a light or a star ... like the entire ship. It disappeared without a sign or a trace. I don't know if it was an alien but it was a UFO. I'm not under the influence or anything. I'm just psyched out. People say seeing is believing (and) I know what I seen. I don't lie. Planes do not sit still (in the sky) and helicopters don't have flashing lights coming out the back.''

iBad: Emilio Pereda recently purchased a fake iPad from a Miami Walmart. He says, “There were no red flags. It was completely wrapped with this wrapper from Walmart with your sku number that matches the receipt. It wasn’t an actual iPad. It’s a piece of plastic, it’s not an iPad at all. The fake iPad has a charging port, but no charging strip. The buttons don’t work. The machine doesn’t turn on. It’s pretty hard to believe you’re going to Walmart it’s known worldwide.'' Walmart says Emilio bought a returned iPad.

Puppy Love: A "love hotel" for dogs has opened in Brazil. Co-owner Fabiano Lourdes says, ''Discerning dog owners pay $50 a day for a room to breed their canines. For many people, the dog is a child who must be well treated. Our market studies showed that people work all day long and they do not know where to drop their pets for mating." Rooms feature dimmed lighting, heart-shaped mirrors on the ceiling and red cushions on the floor.

Stars Comment on Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's Relationship

Will Ferrell Joked: “Everyday is different, it’s a roller coaster of emotion. “They’re talking and that’s good enough for me. That’s the best I can hope for right now. But I still hope they’ll get back together. My hope is that they wake up from this a couple years down the road and say, ‘Hey, let’s get the band back together.’ So to speak and, ‘Let’s rekindle the magic. What we had was so special.’ I don’t know, it’s tough to stay together in Hollywood.”

Donald Trump Tweeted: “After Friday’s Twilight release, I hope Robert Pattinson will not be seen in public with Kristen–she will cheat on him again!”

Robert Pattinson injured his butt while filming Breaking Dawn - Part 2. He says, ''I was shooting the last fight scene and I was so nervous, I almost ripped my glute. I had to have a physio called in and have my butt cheek massaged for the rest of the day.

Jessica Simpson's mother is allegedly writing a tell-all book. A source tells the Star, ''Tina was already planning on writing a book before her marriage to Joe crumbled, but that was going to be about her own life as mom to Jessica and Ashlee. Now that idea has been shelved, and Tina is focusing on writing a tell-all about her marriage to Joe.''

PETA is upset with the producers of Breaking Dawn Part 2 for bringing wolves to the premiere. They say, ''Didn't it dawn on the Twilight event organizers that real wolves do not belong at a party with blaring music and flashing lights? The wolves were provided by Hollywood Animals, a notorious exhibitor that has been cited for numerous violations of the Animal Welfare Act for repeatedly failing to provide the animals it exploits with basic veterinary care, proper shelter, food, and water. We got calls, emails and photos from people at the party."

'Sexiest Man Alive' Channing Tatum wants kids. He says, "I’m ready; I think she’s ready… The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we’ll see where we go after that. It’s really easy for us guys to say, 'I want like 15 kids.' Jenna will be like, 'Well you better get another wife!'"

Brad and Angelina's kids allegedly have food fights at a Missouri pizzeria. A source tells US Weekly, ''The place shuts down for the entire night and the kids raise a ruckus. They jump on tables and even throw food at each other! They let the kids enjoy themselves. Brad and Angelina just sit there and talk to one another while the children run around in circles!''

Suri Cruise allegedly has a new name. A source tells InTouch Weekly, ''She’s (Katie) been calling Suri “Sara” in public “so as not to attract attention. Everyone in the world knows Suri Cruise, so if Katie or a babysitter says, ‘Suri,’ people immediately look to find her.”

A tattoo artist recently refused to ink Rihanna. She tells GQ, 'The tattoo artist said, "Nope, I'm not gonna do it, because if you're looking at your face, it's right there staring at you''. The Dave Matthews Band is giving $1 million to Hurricane Sandy relief

Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy are allegedly faking their breakup. A source tells Showbiz Spy, “Taylor and Conor are pretending to everyone that they’ve split up, and so far they’ve done a really good job of convincing friends – and even the press – that it’s true. The lovers hatched the scheme because the Kennedys were putting huge pressure on Conor, saying he needs to concentrate on getting through high school and into a top college. The family feared Taylor’s jet-set lifestyle would divert his focus from education – and were literally worried sick the couple might even elope. Taylor and Conor are still totally in communication. They just want everyone to forget about them. Meanwhile, they’re planning a secret romantic rendezvous as soon as Conor’s on school break.”

Bret Michaels canceled his New Jersey concert because of Hurricane Sandy. He Tweeted: "Unfortunately, due to damage incurred as a result of Hurricane Sandy, the Paramount Theatre must cancel the Bret Michaels Performance scheduled for November 15, 2012. Tickets may be refunded at the point of purchase. We appreciate your understanding in this matter."
