QUIKKIES: Top 10 holiday toys for 2012 & 5 more reasons to love red wine!

By Vikki Locke

Barack Obama spent yesterday playing basketball in Chicago with Scottie Pippen

- Honey Boo Boo recently got a pet chicken named Nugget

President Barack Obama Is Elected To Second Term:

The Empire State Building glowed blue after Barack Obama was re-elected. The count, with the results from Florida still not in, stood at 303 electoral votes for Obama, to Romney's 206. Obama - 54,773,837 votes .. Romney - 53,716,160 votes

Mitt Romney said, "I wish all of them well, but particularly the President, the First Lady and their daughters. I pray that the President will be successful in guiding our nation."

Donald Trump Tweeted: “We should march on Washington and stop this travesty. He lost the popular vote by a lot and won the election. We should have a revolution in this country! This election is a total sham and a travesty. We are not a democracy! Our country is now in serious and unprecedented trouble...like never before.''

Alec Baldwin Tweeted: "@realdonaldtrump. You trust the voters when they choose The Apprentice. But not now?"

New Yorkers voted in the dark, in tents and in temporary polling stations

1.8 million dead people were registered to vote

Birdbrain Votes: John Kelso voted in Austin, Texas dressed as Big Bird. He says, ''I didn’t pull this stunt because I’m a big fan of Big Bird. Nope, this one is Mitt Romney’s fault. If the Mittster hadn’t said during one of the presidential debates that he loves Big Bird, not likes but loves, I might have rented a Daffy Duck or a Tweety Bird suit instead. I prefer those two birds to Big Bird. I thought Romney wanted to create jobs. And here he is proposing to cut off Big Bird’s paycheck? That’s love? The line to get in and vote was long. Edd and I stood in it for more than half an hour. The Bird suit was like Lady Gaga — hot and itchy. An old guy standing in line in front of me the whole time was trying to ignore me, and he was doing a pretty good job of it. He probably thought I was an idiot. But a lot of women wanted to take my picture.''

New Mom Votes For Two: Galicia Malone voted yesterday while in labor. The Thornton, Illinois native said, ''This is my first baby, a girl, and I wanted to make a good impression. I want to have a story to tell her. The pains are pretty steady but my doctor says to think of it as getting ready to give life. I just agree with more of his policies than with (Mitt) Romney's. I grew up on Sesame Street and PBS. He wants to cut that. What will my daughter grow up on?"

Houston! We Have A Problem: A Detroit man died while voting. Ty Houston, a registered nurse, says, "I was filling out the form as were an elderly couple sitting at a nearby table. His wife, who was helping him fill out the ballot, asked him a couple of questions but he didn't respond. She screamed for help and I went over to see what I could do. He was dead. He had no heartbeat and he wasn't breathing. I started CPR, and after a few minutes, he revived and started breathing again. He knew his name and his wife's name. The first question he asked was 'Did I vote?' Dumbfounded, the man's wife told him that whether he voted was the least of their concerns. She told him 'Your life is my concern.' It was God's divine word that I be there. Originally, I was just going skip the ballot and just go to lunch that day.''

10 Superfoods For A Long Healthy Life from health.com

Broccoli, grapes and salad We'll start with the scientific consensus: A diet rich in fruits and vegetables, high in nutrients and low in calories, is your best bet for a long life.

Berries These bite-sized fruit favorites are check full of antioxidants, known to boost immunity and stave off life-threatening disease. They'll help you age gracefully as well. A 2012 study from Harvard University found that at least one serving of blueberries or two servings of strawberries each week may reduce the risk of cognitive decline in older adults.

Garlic Studies have found that phytochemicals in garlic can halt the formation of carcinogenic chemicals in the body, and that women who eat more garlic have lower risk of certain colon cancers.

Olive oil As delicious as it is healthy, this monounsaturated "good fat" is well known for its heart-health and longevity benefits. Studies also show that olive oil may also be linked to brain health and cancer prevention. Aim for two tablespoons a day.

Bok choy Studies suggests that cruciferous vegetables like this one contain nutrients, such as fiber, vitamin C, and folate, that can help you cheat death. And that's likely the case even if you've already had a close call: A study from Vanderbilt University found that breast cancer survivors in Shanghai who ate more cruciferae—specifically of the turnip, cabbage, and bok choy variety popular in China—had lower risks of death or cancer recurrence during the study period.

Avocado How to prevent heart disease, the largest killer in the United States, according to the latest report from the National Center of Health Statistics? Eat more foods that help keep your heart healthy, like avocados and others already on this list, and improve your odds of a long life.

Tomatoes Lycopene is also an important nutrient in the fight against cancer—the second leading cause of death in the United States. And there's no better source than rosy red tomatoes. Eating them cooked, in pasta sauce, tomato soup, or chutney, actually increases the amount of carcinogen-fighting carotenoids your body is able to absorb.

Beans Beans, beans, are good for your…life? In a 2004 study conducted on elderly people in Australia, Japan, Sweden, and Greece, researchers found that participants had a 7% to 8% reduction in death for every 20 grams of legumes they consumed daily. A diet rich in beans and legumes increases levels of the fatty acid butyrate, which can protect against cancer growth, according to a study from Michigan State University.

Grains and seeds Getting more fiber—specifically by switching from refined bread and pasta to whole grains—can reduce your risk of death from any cause by 22%, according to a 2011 study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine. Experts say that fiber can protect against diabetes, heart disease, some cancers, and obesity, and can reduce cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure.

Booze, in moderation Several studies have suggested that small amounts of alcohol—no more than two drinks a day for men and one drink a day for women—can have heart-health benefits, and that moderate drinkers tend to live longer than heavier imbibers or teetotalers. A 2012 Harvard Medical School study also found that moderate drinking may also reduce men's risk of death in the two decades following a heart attack.

5 Reasons To Love Red Wine from prevention.com

1. Lower your cholesterol High-fiber Tempranillo red grapes--which are used to make certain red wines, like Rioja--may actually have a significant effect on cholesterol levels, according to a study from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain. Healthy study participants who consumed the same grape supplement found in red wine saw their LDL, or "bad cholesterol," levels decrease by 9% among healthy. Participants with high cholesterol experienced a drop of 12%.

2. Protect your heart On top of lowering bad cholesterol, polyphenols--the antioxidants in red wine--can help keep blood vessels flexible and reduce the risk of unwanted clotting, They're nearly as effective as aspirin. But be careful: Chronic heavy drinking damages the heart, so, as with most things, moderation is key.

3. Control blood sugar The skin of red grapes--a rich source of red wine's natural compound resveratrol--may actually help diabetics regulate their blood sugar, finds recent research published in the journal Nutrition. Study participants who took a 250 mg resveratrol supplement once a day for three months had lower blood glucose levels than those who didn't take the pill. Plus, resveratrol-takers also had significant decreases in total cholesterol and systolic blood pressure. Researchers suspect that resveratrol may help stimulate insulin secretion or activate a protein that helps regulate glucose and insulin sensitivity.

4. Boost your brain Resveratrol may also be the key to keeping your memory sharp. The compound has been shown to hamper the formation of beta-amyloid protein, a key ingredient in the plaque found in the brains of people with Alzheimer's. Marambaud suggests flexing your noodle by doing crossword puzzles and brain teasers for an hour then cooling down with a glass of wine.

5. Fight off a cold If you hate getting sick (and who doesn't?), the antioxidants in red wine may help keep you healthy. A 2010 study in the American Journal of Epidemiology found that among 4,000 faculty members at five Spanish universities, those who drank more than 14 weekly glasses of wine for a year were 40% less likely to come down with a common cold. Why? According to the National Institutes of Health, antioxidants are believed to fight infection and protect cells against the effects of free radicals, which may play role in cancer and other diseases

One McMuffin wasn’t enough. ‘It was gone in three bites and the baby would still be feeding so I would order a second.
