Paula Abdul Also Not Returning to X Factor!
Sources tell E! News that Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones aren't the only ones not coming back to X Factor next season. Believe it or not, Fox has informed Simon Cowell's longtime friend Paula Abdul she won't be needed for the series' next installment. "She found out today," says a show source. "At this point, the only ones staying are Simon and L.A. Reid." Another source confirms to E! News that both Paula and Nicole were not renewed, "Simon wants to take the show in a different direction," says the insider.
Might Paula ultimately be brought in? Is this just a negotiating ploy? Our sources both say no, that they are moving on and, a source says, "the plan is to part ways amicably."Nigel Lythgoe was also shocked by the news, tweeting, "Shocked to see Simon has fired Paula Abdul, Nicole and Steve from the X-Factor."
Halle Berry Smiles, Flashes Ring During Court Showdown With Ex!
Almost five hours after her case was scheduled to be called, Halle Berry arrived to the courtroom around 2:30 p.m. for the latest in her nasty custody battle with ex Gabriel Aubry.
Berry is trying to keep Aubry from having visitation rights with their daughter, Nahla, in the wake of an alleged incident between Aubry and Berry's nanny.
Berry hobbled in on crutches wearing a black pinstripe blazer and dark green blouse and conspicuously wielding the green-stone gold (supposed engagement) ring given to her by current beau (fiancé?) Olivier Martinez.
Aubry, in a navy blazer, white shirt and dark jeans, arrived with his own team of lawyers. The sparring exes spent roughly 90 minutes in a private session in front of Judge Mark Juhas.
Aubry, 36, was the first out of the courtroom, speed walking with his legal team out the court hallway.Berry, 45, left the session with a smile and hugged friends by the elevator. During the earlier sessions, Aubry fiddled with his iPhone in the back row of the courtroom as the judge cleared the docket of cases so Berry could arrive to an empty courtroom.
Neither Berry nor Aubry would comment to reporters. Likewise, their respective lawyers remained mum amid reports in TMZ and Radar Online that the two would be ordered to take classes by Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services and that Aubry would also have to submit to an anger-management course.
Georgia's Anna Watson Is College Football's Strongest Female Cheerleader
It's one thing for professional athletes to have to make an ethical decision about using steroids, but college cheerleaders?
Anna Watson has to be America's strongest female cheerleader; the University of Georgia student loves spending time in the weight room, and it certainly shows. But she has more important things in her life: Watson passed up a big money fitness modeling contract because she refused to use a legal steroid.
"It’s an elite position to be a cheerleader at UGA," Watson told Red and Black, her school's award-winning student newspaper. "They have hundreds of girls try out, and to be selected out of all of those people to be on the team, it’s kind of a big deal. So those girls were very humble and gracious and patient to help me just learn the basic stuff."
Watson has been cheering since age 5. She can bench press 155 pounds, squat 255 pounds and dead lift 230 pounds. According to the school newspaper, she added an impressive four inches of muscles on her arms in just 10 months.
A deeply religious junior exercise and sports science major, Watson was on the brink of a $75,000 fitness-modeling contract that could have set her up for a lifetime career in modeling -- but she turned it down.
Why?
A modeling agent wanted her to use Anavar, a legal anabolic steroid to help her gain up to 50 pounds of muscle. Worried about the effects on her body when she decides to have kids, Watson passed.
"I don't serve a modeling agent. I serve the Lord," Watson said. "I'm not going to compromise my morals and my beliefs just to take pictures. I believe that my body is a temple and a beautiful creation, so I don't want to put anything into it that can harm it."
Despite being somewhat of a cult hero for her large muscles, Watson says that's not really who she is. "I know that my identity is not in working out," Watson said. "It’s not who I am. It’s not what I want people to see me as. Yes, on the outside, I’m a very fit individual, but when you get to know me, my life is not all about exercise and working out."
After cheering at three home Georgia football games, Watson is on the disabled list right now after rupturing her Achilles tendon.
Jennifer Lopez Talks Divorce, Family Life With Matt Lauer
Jennifer Lopez had plenty of non-controversial things to discuss with the Today Show's Matt Lauer on Monday morning--her role as a mom, American Idol judge, and beauty icon for women over 40, to name a few. However, Lauer did manage to get the multitalented entertainer to spill some details about a sensitive subject: Namely, how she's managing her split from husband Marc Anthony.
Lopez explained that she and Anthony keep in touch out of necessity, due to their children Max and Emme, as well as a shared project they're currently developing--a reality TV talent show called Q'Viva! The Chosen, which is set in Latin America.Lopez and Anthony
"Marc and I were friends before we got married. We were friends for years. And we always loved each other, and we always worked together," she explained to Lauer. "So it wasn't like an unnatural thing to keep working together."
"Obviously, we have children together so it's not like he's not going to be in my life," she added.
When Lauer admiringly called this an "adult approach," Lopez admitted there are difficulties involved. "I'm not going to sit here and lie to you about it," she noted. "But at the end of the day there is real love there, and there is a family there."
Lauer did get Lopez a bit fired up, when he mentioned a Vanity Fair article in which the singer/actress discussed loving herself enough to walk away from her marriage. "Matt, I'm going to kill you right now," she quipped, but noted firmly, "Everything I wanted to say about the divorce I said in that article, and Marc and I agreed we weren't going to talk about it publicly again because it really is our personal life."
Towards the end of the interview, Lauer asked Lopez if she thought she'd ever get married again--without naming Lopez's current flame, dancer Casper Smart. "I don't know," Lopez admitted. "It's not time to think about that."
And how are the kids doing? "So good," Lopez said, adding that she's trying to instill the values she grew up with: "Just in a bigger house."
