So What Happens to That Tiger Russell Brand Gave Katy Perry as a Wedding Gift?
You speak of Machli, the female tiger that reportedly fell into Katy Perry's care as a wedding bonus from soon-to-be-ex Russell Brand. Here's what I can tell you...
First the facts, er, reports. Team Perry wouldn't tell us for sure, but at the time of her wedding, several outlets said that Brand did indeed gift Perry with a wild animal. But if that's the case, there was never a tiger running around their Sunset Strip mansion. There was no Siegfried & Roy disaster waiting to happen.
Perry junkies will recall that she and Brand married at the Ranthambore National Park in India. That park is a tiger reserve.
James Van Der Beek on Turning Down DWTS and Whether He's "Allowed" to See Katie Holmes
"Are you allowed to see Katie Holmes?"
Yep. You heard it. That was the question a reporter threw at Dawson LearyJames Van der Beek, star of the new ABC series Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, when the cast met with TV critics today at the network's winter press tour.
The Beek also told us after the panel he was offered a spot on Dancing with the Stars. So why didn't he slip into some sparkly hotpants and go for it?
"I was too busy working," James says of turning down DWTS. "It looks like fun, but it's just a huge time commitment." Still, all is not lost because James gets to do Dancing with the Stars on his new comedy Apartment 23, in which he plays himself. "I think I'm allowed to say that within [the show], I won Dancing With the Stars...The way I do it [on the show]is kind of obsessiveand just very extreme. And that is even more fun. I had four months to learn my dance as opposed to four weeks."
Van Der Beek just laughed and shrugged in response to the Katie Q ("Are you allowed to see Katie Holmes?"), but Apartment 23 creator Nahnatchka Kahn joked, "Yes [James is], but no one else is. She's going to be guest starring on our show in a black shroud." Zinga!
Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 is coming midseason on ABC.
William Shatner to star in a one-man Broadway show
NEW YORK (AP) — William Shatner is boldly going back to where he once appeared — Broadway. The actor, singer and writer best known as James T. Kirkon "Star Trek" will star in a one-man show called "Shatner's World: We Just Live in It."
Previews begin Feb. 14 and it runs at the Music Box Theatre until March 4. Producers said Tuesday "The two-hour show will take audiences on a voyage through Shatner's life and career, from Shakespearean stage actor to internationally known icon and raconteur."
Shatner was last on Broadway in "A Shot in the Dark" in 1961. The former "T.J. Hooker" star won an Emmy for his work on "Boston Legal."
His other Broadway creditsinclude "Tamburlaine the Great" in 1956 and "The World of Suzie Wong" two years later.
Dolly Parton Goo-Goo for Lady Gaga Duet: "We'd Be Fun Together!"
Dolly Parton has made it perfectly clear—she would love to work with Lady Gaga. She told me back in April she'd like to duet with the "Born This Way" singer and call herself Lady GooGoo after the GooGoo candy bars famous in Nashville.
And while they haven't sung together yet... "We'd be fun together, don't you think?" the country legend said last night at the Hollywood premiere of her new movie, Joyful Noise (out on Friday)."I think people would love that," she said. "But you know, you just wait. Those kind of things happen when they're supposed to."
In other words, Gaga needs to call Dolly, like right...now!
Parton does sing in Joyful Noise with her costar Queen Latifah. "I told Queen Latifah she should be on the Grand Ole Opry," Parton said. "She could sing 'Fix Me Jesus.' They would love that."
Lohan to play Elizabth Taylor?
LOS ANGELES — Lindsay Lohan might not have ended up playing XXX actress Linda Lovelace — but she just might end up portraying another iconic screen presence.
Lohan, 25, is in talks to play Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming Lifetime biopic "Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story." An individual familiar with the negotiations told TheWrap that Lohan is in early conversations about the project.
The film will chronicle the romance between Taylor and Richard Burton, to whom she was married twice, from 1964 to 1974 and again from 1975 to 1976.
Improbable as it might seem, Lohan has had her experience playing — or at least channeling — screen legends lately, namely in her Marilyn Monroe-inspired nude pictorial for the January/February 2012 issue of Playboy.
Taylor died of congestive heart failure last March, at the age of 79. Lohan's representative offered no comment.
