Charlie Sheen Excited To Be Back At Work On 'Anger Management'; 'I'm Not Crazy Anymore'
Charlie Sheen says he's back to reality!
"I'm not crazy anymore. That was an episode," the actor told reporters at Sunday night's FOX Television Critics Association party in Pasadena, Calif. "I think I'm a different person than I was yesterday. Everything is a lot more mellow and focused and much more rooted in reality."
The headline-making 46-year-old actor is excited to begin shooting his new FX show, "Anger Management," which plans to film 10 episodes in six weeks. "I've been at this 30 years. It's nice to be in a situation where the people I'm working with are excited about my input. That wasn't the case for a long time," he said.
Charlie said it is "premature" to name other actors who might guest star on his new series, but teased that "everybody" wants to be on the new comedy. The actor also said he's traded in Twitter rants and nights with his former Goddesses for quality time with his family.
"I've been spending a lot of time with the kids, a lot of time with the family and I'm getting back into work mode," he explained. "I'm a single guy hanging out with my children." As for his former "Two and a Half Men" co-star Jon Cryer and the show's producer Chuck Lorre, he says some lines of communication are open.
"Jon and I text. Chuck, no," he explained. "But at some point we are going to have to get some closure there."
Kristy McNichol Comes Out of the Closet to Help Bullied Kids!
Kristy McNichol, famous for her roles on the TV series "Family" and "Empty Nest," has come out of the closet in an effort to help children being bullied.
McNichol, 49, has lived with her partner Martie Allen, for the past two decades.
She decided to make a statement about her sexuality and share a photo because she is "approaching 50? and wants to "be open about who I am," People Magazine reported. She "is very sad about kids being bullied," her publicist Jeff Ballard told People Magazine. "She hopes that coming out can help kids who need support. She would like to help others who feel different."
McNichol was best known for her roles on the drama "Family," for which she won two Emmy Awards, and later "Empty Nest." She has also starred in several films, including "Little Darlings" in 1980 with Tatum O'Neal. McNichol was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1992, and subsequently ended her television career. She currently lives in Los Angeles.
"She is very happy and healthy," says Ballard, according to People Magazine. "And she enjoys living a very private life."
Disney Jr. sets launch date as 24-hour channel!
Disney Channel is spreading its wings: The network Monday set March 23 as the launch date for Disney Jr., a 24-hour preschool cable channel that will eventually replace SoapNet.
Already a successful morning block on Disney Channel, the full-time channel will feature new series including Sofia the First, about a pint-sized princess, and Doc McStuffins, about a girl doctor who "treats" preschool toys.
For boys, Disney's XD channel is adding a dedicated Marvel Universe block this spring (Disney now owns Marvel) that will include a new Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, starring Drake Bell (Drake & Josh) as a teenage version of the superhero. Also look for Tron: Uprising, a long-planned cartoon series due in June.
SoapNet's demise coincides with sibling ABC's cancellation of two of its three soaps since September.
Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul Engaged!
Look who's been cooking up a little romance on the side!
Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul is engaged to his activist girlfriend Lauren Parsekian, the Emmy-winning actor's rep confirmed Monday to E! News.
Obviously, Paul is nothing like the messed-up meth dealer he so excellently portrays on TV, or else how could he land a good girl like Parsekian?!
Parsekian is president and cofounder of the Kind Campaign, which serves to raise awareness and treat victims of bullying and crimes committed by girls against other girls.
In 2010, she directed the documentary Finding Kind, featuring herself and TKC cofounder Molly Thompson traveling across America to shed light on the troubling epidemic that their program seeks to put an end to.
A source tells us that the couple has been dating for less than a year, "but [they] have been really lovey-dovey from the start." Paul popped the question in Paris on New Year's Eve. "The ring is huge and gorgeous," says our source, adding that Laura appears "super happy."
The 32-year-old actor's latest project, the indie drama Smashed, will screen at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival later this month.
Nick Cannon Home From the Hospital After "Mild Kidney Failure," Already Planning Return to Work!
After undergoing successful treatment for kidney failure, the b host was released from Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center over the weekend and is already plotting his return to the airwaves.
Well, he was strong enough to tweet his congrats to Jay-Z and Beyoncé yesterday...
"Nick Cannon was released over the weekend to be with his family," rep Tracy Nguyen said in a statement. "He is resting and recovering at home and would like to thank everyone who has expressed concern, well wishes and prayers. He plans to return to his live morning radio show broadcast Rollin' with Nick Cannon on 92.3 NOW FM on January 17th, 6-10am EST."
What a trouper! (And what a plug!)
Cannon was first hospitalized with "mild kidney failure" early last week while he and Carey were vacationing in Aspen. He was transferred to Cedars, where he received a haircut and underwent surgery.
"Recovering... about to be stronger than ever! #Ncredible!" he tweeted Friday.
