RIDLEY SCOTT SUSPENDS PRODUCTION/VIDEO OF TONY SCOTT SUICIDE BEING SHOPPED

Prometheus director Ridley Scott has halted production on his new film The Counselor following the suicide death of his brother, Top Gun director Tony Scott.   Ridley had been shooting the film, which stars Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender in London, when he got the news of his brother’s death. Shooting has been suspended for a week, and Monday Ridley was spotted at the airport heading to Los Angeles to be with his family. Meanwhile, TMZ reports that video of Tony Scott’s leap off San Pedro, California’s Vincent Thomas Bridge is being shopped to the media.  Several people reportedly grabbed their phones after seeing Scott climb a fence on the bridge, and then continued filming as he jumped. TMZ claims to have seen the footage but chose not to purchase the material.

THE OFFICE ENDING AFTER THIS SEASON!

NBC announced yesterday that the upcoming season of The Office will be its last. Executive producer Greg Daniels, who ran the show for the first five seasons, will return for the ninth and final season. "As we head into the home stretch, we have a lot of exciting things I've been wanting to do since season two," Daniels told reporters. "The end should be pretty cool." As for whether star Steve Carell will return for the final episode, Daniels said, “We'll see. We have ideas for the ending and obviously if he would participate, we would have a lot of good times. The idea will fly without him if he can't make it. He is pretty busy." Meanwhile,  Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston is directing an upcoming episode of The Office. The news was announced by Office star Rainn Wilson, who tweeted a picture of Cranston on his lap, with the caption, “Free meth for The Office (look who’s directing…). The episode, titled “Working Bus,” airs October 18^th.

TMZ got a hold of pictures of the 27-year-old playing a naked game of pool with friends in his VIP suite over the weekend.  Sources tell the site that Harry and his buddies went down to the hotel bar where they met a bunch of women and invited them up to his room. Once there, the group started playing strip pool, and of course, some partiers snapped photos.  One pic shows Harry buck naked cupping his family jewels, while another shows his royal behind.

LINDSAY QUESTIONED IN CONNECTION WITH JEWELRY THEFT!

Lindsay Lohan was reportedly questioned by police earlier this week in connection with a home burglary. According to TMZ, the Mean Girls star was staying at a mansion in the Hollywood Hills following an all-night party on Sunday. The owner of that home wound up calling police Monday after discovering some of his expensive jewelry had gone missing. Although Lindsay has a history of shoplifting - she was charged with taking a necklace from a Venice Beach jewelry store in February of last year -  she isn’t considered a suspect in this case. The owner of the house does think Lindsay is partially to blame for the theft though. Lindsay reportedly brought two men with her to the party and the owner believes they are the ones who robbed him.

MARIAH UPSET OVER MINAJ/KANYE JOINING IDOL?!

Mariah Carey is not happy about reports that Nicki Minaj is about to join her on American Idol. Sources tell TMZ Mariah hung up the phone on producers when she was informed they were interested in Nicki. According to insiders, Mariah thought she was going to be the only woman on the panel, and she is furious at the thought of sharing the judges’ table with another female, let alone a younger one (Mariah’s 42, Nicki’s 29). Nicki isn’t a done deal though. Insiders say producers are still trying to determine the makeup of the new panel.  Some say Randy Jackson may not come back as a judge which means there would be two openings at the table. Another scenario would have the show adding a fourth judge so there would be two men and two women. Male names being mentioned include: Enrique Iglesias, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Joe Jonas and, believe it or not, Kanye West. TMZ reports that producers have reached out to Kanye about joining the judges’ panel and he has expressed interest, although a source claims  “he is on the fence.”

AMANDA BYNES …YEAH, ANOTHER CAR ACCIDENT!

Someone really needs to take away Amanda Bynes’ drivers’ license. The What a Girl Wants star got into yet another car accident Monday night, according to TMZ. This time the rental car Amanda was driving (her Benz was getting repaired from another accident) was rear-ended in California’s San Fernando Valley. The driver of the other car tells TMZ Amanda made a reckless maneuver which caused the collision. Cops showed up at the scene, but  no one was ticketed. In the last six months, Amanda has been involved in four accidents – three hit and runs, and an accident which resulted in her arrest for DUI. In addition, she is being investigated for driving off last March as cops were writing her a ticket for driving while talking on her cellphone.  [See Spotlight On for more.]

GABRIEL AUBRY USES PRINCESS DI AS A REASON FRANCE ISN’T SAFER FOR HIS KID!

Halle Berry and boyfriend Gabriel Aubry are still locked in a bitter custody battle. Halle is trying to prove it’s safer for her daughter Nahla to live in France, where paparazzi laws are stricter (and where Halle’s fiancé Olivier Martinez lives, but Gabriel doesn’t see it that way. In fact, TMZ reports that Gabriel’s lawyers argued that living in France is probably more dangerous, citing Princess Diana’s death as a prime example. Of course Princess Di was killed in a car accident as she was being chased by paparazzi back in 1997.  But Halle’s lawyers have countered by calling several French lawyers, who testified that the country’s judges go after photographers who follow celebrities. In addition, under French law, paparazzi can’t shoot celebrities who don’t want their picture taken and they could be sued or criminally prosecuted if they harass celebrities.

Now that was fast. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are officially divorced. The former couple’s case was closed Monday, according to New York records. Holmes announced she was divorcing Cruise on June 29^th, and they reached a settlement less than two weeks later.  She reportedly got primary legal custody of their 6-year-old daughter Suri.

In what could only be described as a union of bad Canadian music, Avril Lavigne has gotten engaged to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger. The couple began dating about six months ago, after Kroeger, 37, started working with Lavigne, 27, on her upcoming album. According to People, Kroeger popped the question on August 8^th with a 14-karat diamond ring. This will be second marriage for Lavigne. She was previously married to Sum 41’sDeryck Whibley. White House party crashers Michaele and Tareq Salahi are officially divorced. A Virginia judge signed off on their divorce decree Monday, and since there was a pre-nup and a post-nup, dividing their assets was not an issue.  Michaele and Tareq split last year after Michaele ran off with Journey guitarist Neal Schon. Tareq tried to sue Neal for $50 million, but the lawsuit was settled last week.
