R.I.P.: Dick Clark died yesterday at the age of 82. He suffered a massive heart attack. Clark won 5 Emmy Awards for his work, as well as a Peabody Award. One Emmy was a lifetime achievement award. Dick Clark's rep tells TMZ, there will be NO public funeral. In lieu of flowers, Dick's family asks that donations be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation based in Miami. Clark is survived by his wife Kari and three children.

1. Dick Clark was a huge Flintstone fan. and owned a ‘Bedrock’ inspired estate in Malibu, California worth a cool 3.5 million dollars.

2. Dick was introduced to the broadcast world by his father Richard Augustus who was a station manager for WRUN in Utica, NY.

4. Clark graduated with a degree in Business from Syracuse University and is a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon a fraternity that began at Yale in 1844. Some of Delta Kappa Epsilon notable members are George H. W. Bush, Theodore Roosevelt and Rutherford B. Hayes.

5. After graduating high school, America’s Oldest Teenager began working at Syracuse University’s student-run radio station WAER-FM at the tender age of 17.

6. The early part of his career wasn’t all peaches and cream as he survived the infamous Payola Scandol which ended the career of Rock and Roll Dj Alan Freed.

7. American Bandstand first aired in Philadelphia and Dick Clark is credited with putting the city of brotherly love on the cultural map.

8. Dick Clark helped to intergrate the dance floors of a ‘Black and White’ America by inviting black dancers to his show in 1958 just one year after starting American Bandstand.

9. Clark’s last big television gig was Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012.

Clark suffered a serious stroke in 2004 that left his speech impaired. He returned to host his “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” show in 2005 along with “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest.

He also worked as a DJ at WFIL in Philadelphia. His show was called "Dick Clark's Caravan of Music."

When "New American Bandstand 1965" was picked up by ABC in 1957, Dick changed its name to "American Bandstand". He also anded the show's all-white policy and began introducing black artists. By 1959, Bandstand had 101 affiliates and reached an audience of 20 million people.

They bought a $3 quick-pick ticket and have opted to collect their winnings - $111 million after taxes - in a lump-sum payment. The Butlers plan to invest and travel.

 

Time To Volunteer: Pat Summitt is stepping aside as the women's basketball coach at Tennessee. Last year, she was diagnosed with early onset dementia-Alzheimer's. Pat says, "I've loved being the head coach at Tennessee for 38 years, but I recognize that the time has come to move into the future and to step into a new role. I want to help ensure the stability of the program going forward. I would like to emphasize that I fully intend to continue working as head coach emeritus, mentoring and teaching life skills to our players, and I will continue my active role as a spokesperson in the fight against Alzheimer's through the Pat Summitt Foundation Fund."

Man Eats Fraudulent Checks: U.S. customs officials recently arrested Marc Juste after he tried to eat a box of illegal tax returns. He had just gotten off a flight from Haiti when several officers at the Ft Lauderdale airport asked to examine the envelope he was carrying. Juste refused to hand it over and tried to eat it. It contained tax return checks bearing the names of fraud victims.

 

Gwyneth Paltrow recently attended Paul McCartney's Hollywood premiere for his new video, My Valentine. When the video ended, she hopped in a car and took a 10-second ride from the premiere party to dinner, which was four doors down at the Madeo restaurant. According to Mapquest and the NY Post, the McCartney boutique (at 8823 Beverly) and Madeo (8897 Beverly) are 0.06 miles apart.

 

Simon Cowell's new biography, Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell, reveals he gets Botox twice a year. He also pumps pure vitamin C into his bloodstream through an intravenous drip. Simon travels with two suitcases full of eye drops, face creams, bath salts and lotions

 

JLo is trying to help William Levy win Dancing With the Stars. A source tells the Star, "Jennifer is still close to William since they filmed a music video together. So when she heard he was going to be on DWTS, she reached out. She convinced Casper to give him a few dance lessons. Steven Tyler's feet are failing him. He has Morton’s neuroma, a thickening of the nerves in the feet. The condition causes pain, swelling and crooked toes. Steven says, “My feet have been my best friend for the last 40 years. I've just been a dancing fool on stage, and after awhile you just kind of wear them out. I took "Idol" and I don't have to walk around on my poor, sore feet." The condition is common in runners, dancers and basketball players.
