Mary Fickett, who originated the role of heroine Ruth Brent Martin on "All My Children", and played the role until 2000, has passed away. Fickett died on September 8th at her home in Callao, Virginia. She was 83.  

Former World Series MVP Manny Ramirez has been arrested for allegedly committing domestic violence against his wife, Juliana.  Ramirez was taken out of his Weston, Florida home at around 7pm on Monday night.  His wife left the house shortly after Ramirez was taken away in the back of a police car.

Ryan O'Neal said he backed out of "Dancing with the Stars" because he reportedly has a problem with Nancy Grace who is in the cast this season.  According to TMZ, O'Neal feels Grace has been "disrespectful" to his family, especially going after his son, Redmond, who has had ongoing drug problems.

Serena Williams was fined $2,000 for blasting a U.S. Open umpire. Serena, who lost against Samantha Stosur in straight sets, flew off the handle during the match shouting at the ref, "If you ever see me walking down the hall, look the other way because you're out of control. You're a hater and you're unattractive inside. Who would do such a thing? Wow."  While Williams will have to separate with $2,000 for the outburst it's a drop in the bucket ... because she earned a grand total of $1.4 MILLION during the tournament.

Charlie Sheen is scheduled to appear on NBC’s "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" Thursday, September 15th.  Sheen will talk about his new series, "Anger Management" and will talk about his roast on Comedy Central. This marks Sheen’s 17th appearance on the show.

Victor Tallarico, father of Aerosmith lead singer, Steven Tyler, died Saturday at Hunt Community, surrounded by his family. He was 95. His wife, Susan Tallarico, died in July 2008 at age 84. Tallarico. a WWII veteran, was a lifelong musician and at the age of 93, was still giving concerts in Nashua at the Hunt Home and performing for cocktail hour each week. Services will be celebrated privately by family.

Bravo has signed a marketing deal with ConAgra Foods to create a new line of frozen Top Chef entrees. The new line, called Healthy Choice Top Chef Inspired Café Steamers, will begin appearing in grocery stores later this month. The move also includes an original web series called Top Chef Healthy Showdown which will appear on BravoTV.com. The series premieres September 14th.

Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will give her first TV interview since being shot in January to Diane Sawyer of ABC News. Giffords, shot in the head while meeting with constituents on January 8th, will be interviewed with her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly. ABC said Monday that the discussion will air as part of a prime-time special November 14th.

Speaking with Matt Laur on "Today", Kate Gosselin says she'll be back on TV soon. The finale episode of "Kate Plus 8" ended last night.  While her ex, Jon Gosselin begs her to get a normal life, Kate says she's concerned for her show's "devastated" fans whom, she said, must feel like they are losing their favorite next-door neighbor.  Responding to Jon's comments about a normal life, Kate replied, "Jon may be acceptive of mediocre for his kids, but I want the best for my kids."


Former American Idol runner-up, Diana DeGarmo, will become part of the cast of "The Young and the Restless".  She'll be playing Angelina, the Jersey-girl daughter of mob boss Angelo.  She will start shooting the week of September 22 and her first appearance is expected to hit the air late October. The Alabama-born DeGarmo placed second to Fantasia in Season 3 of Idol back in 2004 and has since been busy on the New York stage, appearing in the Broadway productions of "Hairspray" and "Hair".
