MTV has added a new category highlighting social activism to its Video Music Awards show after seeing artists exploring self-worth and other issues in their music. The awards will be given out at the VMAs later this month. This year's VMA nominees for "Best Video With a Message" include Pink for "F***** Perfect," Lady Gaga for "Born This Way," Katy Perry with "Firework," Eminem featuring Rihanna for "Love The Way You Lie," Rise Against for "Make It Stop (September's Children)" and Taylor Swift for "Mean." The 2011 "MTV Video Music Awards" will air live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on August 28th.

"The Amazing Race" TV producer Jonathan Littman has purchased the "Entourage" house in Encino for $4.2 million. The mansion was the setting of season seven of the HBO show.   The Tuscan-style villa has 9,010 square feet of living space with a media room, study, seven bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. Features include 22-foot-high beamed ceilings and seven fireplaces. The master suite has an exercise room and French doors leading to a private patio with a spa. The lot includes a mosaic-tiled pool, spa and waterfall. An additional 1,975-square-foot outdoor living space has a kitchen, a barbecue, a bar and a fireplace.

Joe Jonas will be opening for Britney Spears on her European tour starting October 16th. It's a dream come true for the 21 year old singer, who used to have a Britney poster on his bedroom wall...now he's performing with her. Spears's Femme Fatale tour includes performances in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Ireland and the UK.


"Grease" actress Annette Charles, who played Cha Cha in the movie, died Wednesday night at age 63 from complications from cancer. Charles played Charlene "Cha-Cha" DiGregorio, the girlfriend of the leader of the Scorpions gang, in the 1978 movie that starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.

While some are giving Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, high marks for wearing clothes to events she's worn before, Kelly Osbourne says the idea that she recycles clothing is pitiful.  Osbourne appeared on the David Letterman show Wednesday night and said "Well, I'm sorry but if I had that job I would only wear something once. I would get a new dress every day." The 29-year-old newlywed was seen at the wedding of Princess Anne's daughter Zara Phillips in outfits she had worn during other occasions.

"America's Next Top Model" is bringing back 14 girls from past seasons for an allstars Cycle 17. The women of the all-star cast are: Shannon Stewart (Cycle 1), Camille McDonald (Cycle 2), Brittany Brower (Cycle 4), Lisa D'Amato (Cycle 5), Bre Scullark (Cycle 5), Bianca Golden (Cycle 9), Dominique Reighard (Cycle 10), Isis King (Cycle 11), Sheena Sakai (Cycle 11), Allison Harvard (Cycle 12), Laura Kirkpatrick (Cycle 13), Angelea Preston (Cycle 14), Kayla Ferrel (Cycle 15) and Alexandria Everett (Cycle 16).  Guest judges this cycle include: Nicki Minaj;  Kathy Griffin;  LaToya Jackson; Ashlee Simpson; Tyson Beckford; and Kristin Cavallari. "America's Next Top Mode" Cycle 17 premieres Wednesday, September. 14th at 9pm on the CW.

Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who was the second man to walk on the Moon, says he's been tricked out of making money off his own name.  Aldrin has filed a lawsuit against his stepdaughter, Lisa Cannon, the daughter of his now estranged wife, Lois. Lisa helps run  StarBuzz Enterprises LLC which markets and promotes Buzz. In the suit, Buzz claims Lisa duped him into signing an agreement that gave StarBuzz all rights to Buzz's name, work, and persona. On top of that, Lisa and Lois own more than 60% of the company! Buzz filed to divorce Lois back in June. Buzz wants a judge to tear up the company agreement.

Us Weekley is reporting that famed designer Michael Kors and Lance LePere went and got a marriage license in New York City on Wednesday. "Lance and I are very excited to finally be able to have the opportunity to marry in our home state after many years together," said the Project Runway judge.  "We have no plans for a major party," Kors says. "But we will be getting married privately."  The bill legalizing same-sex marriage in New York passed in the senate in June.
