Who's Gonna Win an Oscar?

Previous Posts

By Jordan Graye

Ok, I’m totally in for Silver Linings Playbook, if nothing else, DeNiro will win best supporting for sure.  I think this is the first time one film has all the acting nods.  Doubt SLP will win best pic, I'm thinking Argo might nab that one.  Speilberg will most likely get best director for Lincoln, and Daniel Day-Lewis will win best actor (I felt like I was watching Lincoln himself).  Loved Jennifer Lawrence’s character in SLP…"fire" women are so misunderstood in our society.  Life of PI will get the cinematography/graphics/SFX/sound awards, it was visually and technically stunning.

So enough about me, take a look and see your picks to win Sunday night at the 85th Academy Awards on ABC (red carpet coverage starts at 4pm Eastern).  See complete list of nominees here.

BEST FILM:

Beasts of the Southern Wild

Silver Linings Playbook

Zero Dark Thirty

Lincoln

Les Miserables

Life of Pi

Amour

Django Unchained

Argo

BEST ACTOR:

Daniel Day-Lewis - Lincoln

Denzel Washington – Flight

Hugh Jackman – Les Mis

Bradley Cooper – SLP

Joaquin Phoenix – The Master

BEST ACTRESS:

Naomi Watts – The Impossible

Jessica Chastain – Zero Dark Thirty

Jennifer Lawrence – SLP

Emmanuelle Riva – Amour  (oldest best actress nominee will turn 86 the day of the Oscars!...Jessica Tandy was oldest to win at just shy of her 81st B'day for Driving Miss Daisy…just goes to show it’s never too late, and  you’re  never too old…for ANYTHING).

Quvenzhane Wallis – Beasts of the Southern Wild      Pronounce her name "Kwah-VEN'-jah-nay" (youngest best actress nominee at age 9…if she wins she will beat Tatum O’Neal who won at age 10 for Paper Moon, and Anna Paquin who won at age 11 for The Piano).

And select Regal Cinemas have a great deal on seeing nominated films before Sunday night! Check our website for details. xoxo  Jordan
