2006 - George Clooney - He started out on the Facts of Life in the waining years of the popular series, then he sported the scrubs to make the jump from little known to superstar of ER. He also was named Sexiest Man more than once, winning all the way back in 1997.
Whether you agree with his politics or not, it's hard not to like Clooney. I've always been drawn to his humanitarian efforts morso than even his acting. So when I read he picked up the tab for a neighboring table in a German restaurant because he thought his (George's) party had been too loud and interrupted the patron's dinner, I just smiled.
