If you want to do more than just fire up the grill for the holiday, but need a few things to jump start your Memorial Day weekend, I've put a list together that might help.  Whether you have money to burn, or must do freebies only, take a look:

Let's start with my fave...free live music!  Check out the Atlanta Jazz Festival May 26-28 at Piedmont Park.  Find more here Lots of wonderful acts the whole family can get into.

Next is our free movie screening Saturday May 26h, it'sB@theMovies  in Roswell's Riverside Park. Check out "We Bought a Zoo" with Matt Damon and Scarlett Johannsen.  And the entire summer list is on our website, so plan ahead and bring your blankets and picnics for fun free family evenings.

Stone Mountain Park isn't free because you have to pay for park entrance at the gate (usually 10 bucks per car with 14 people or less), but once inside, the Laser Show Spectacular is FREE on the lawn and is followed by a fireworks finale on Memorial Day.  Check here and I think you get a 30% discount on tix to things like Crossroads, Sky Hike, etc. if you buy on-line.

You can raft the Chattahoochee River for free if you have your own inner tubes, or you can rent rafts here   although there might be a minimal fee to park at certain load-in points like Poweres Ferry (3 bucks or so)

Ok, so the stuff that costs ya something (but hopefully can find coupons to help out):

Ga Renaissance Festival in Fairburn open weekends thru June 3rd including Memorial Day!  See what's up here

Six Flags Over Georgia, White Water , the usual suspects are always a great bet...do you roller coaster?!

Although you need to buy tix for Zoo Atlanta and the Cyclorama, Grant Park is free for cookouts, etc (you might need to reserve a grill, though)!  Check out the lions and tigers and bears here

Our Atlanta Braves in town all Mem Day Weekend long with the Nationals and the Cardinals, and this site might have some discount tix! GO BRAVES!  I"m going to say it now...the Braves will win the World Series this year!  It's the least they can do for Chipper Jones'  last year.

In need of coupons and more discounts?  There's DealChicken.com, LivingSocial.com, Groupon.com

And even GOOGLE   has some things to help your pocketbook!  I know I've left out a ton of things and would love to know what your plans are!

Have a safe and FUN Memorial Day Weekend...if you're traveling, check our website for the Traffic tab with links to GDOT.

Know You're Loved...I'll be back the day after Memorial Day to help make re-entry painless. xoxo
