Every four years I remember watching amazing athletes WOW me during my summer breaks from elementary and highschool. Mark Spitz. Yeah, WOW! Not only was he cute, but he could swim! I was on the Ridgeview Highschool Gymnastics Team with Coach Nancy Huff, so I was totally into Cathy Rigby, Olga Korbut, Marilou Retton (later), and the HUGE WOW of Nadia Comaneci's perfect 10 on bars (I think they score differently now, but in the day a 10 ruled and was rare)!
Well, they're almost here. London 2012 Olympics late July to mid August, guaranteed to stun, amaze and jaw drop! Couldn't believe some of the events they've added...check 'em out here. Yeah, the trampoline is an olympic sport now as is Taekwondo!
I'll be inspired to get in shape when watching, but chances are, I'll stay a couch potato while these finely tuned athletic machines WOW me for a few weeks this summer during the Olympics.
What are your favorite events to watch? Diving? Swimming? Track and Field? Equestrian (that's mine)? Maybe Ping Pong?
