Dear 'Ol Mom !

By Jordan Graye

So did my mom feel as young as I do at this age?  I think back at how she seemed so much older to me when she was the age I am NOW.  (follow?!)   Sorry Mom, had I known!

How are you celebrating Mother’s Day this year?

You have until Sunday May 13th to acknowledge her officially, but hopefully we do that EVERYDAY in some way or another.  Maybe a phone call?  A visit?  Clean your room?  (that always did it for my mom)!  My sister and I always take her out to eat at her fave restaurant.  That’s been our ritual for YEARS.  Do you have a favorite way to show mom you love her?  An outing at Stone Mountain?  Or the Botanical Garden?  Renaissance Festival?  Or just a nice meal at your house?  I know times are tight, and it can be difficult to buy a gift (although she probably just wants your company and nothing else).  Maybe you can win my lunchbox today or tomorrow for a Spa Sydell Mother’s Day Package. Way cool!

I have been a spoiled, narcissistic, challenging child to my mom both as a youngster and an adult, and I haven’t told her I love her nearly enough…actually, I haven’t SHOWED her I love her nearly enough.  She really was the brick and mortar of our family unit when I was growing up.  It took me becoming a mom to truly appreciate her hard work and sacrifices for us.  I am so blessed to have her in my life and especially as my mom.

So however you celebrate your mom, I hope you and she and the rest of your clan have a fantastic, loving Mother’s Day! xoxo
