Nice is Naughty?

Previous Posts

By Jordan Graye

For days there has been speculation, and now indeed the network morning show wars have a casualty in Ann Curry of  NBC's The Today Show.  I read an article the other day suggesting that Ann was "too nice" and that cutting and mean is "in"...like it's BAD to be NICE?   WOW.  Seriously?  Do we not get enough cutting and meanness 24/7 in our everyday lives from work, traffic, kids, etc.?

Although that article was one person's opinion, I started wondering if that really is what our society has come down to...so many people feeling so bad about themselves that they have to try to cut others down in order to feel OK about themselves.   I hope this is not the case, and this is only what is reflected by a handful of producers on national TV shows.  I cannot watch people like Joan Rivers who criticize others for what they wear.  I have a hard time with hate mongers, and people who are intolerant.  I used to proudly state that "The only thing I can't tolerate is intolerance."  And then I realized it made me one of them!  If I were truly tolerant, I would be fine with intolerance.  So I came off my high horse, and I'm trying to embrace it all.  Trying.

Don't get me wrong, I can certainly complain about things with the best of 'em....like Sharipova's blood curdling scream everytime she hits the tennis ball, what's up with that?  It's distracting, and I can't enjoy the match.  But I understand that that is MY problem.  I'm not going to shame and blame her for the way she is in her tennis world.  And I should get my butt outside playing tennis instead of inside watching it...I'm sure I'd be gruntin' too!

Anyway, I hope you have a totally accepting day and enjoy every minute of it no matter what, and BE NAUGHTY !  If nice is naughty, be REAL NAUGHTY !!! Especially to yourself

Now if we can all hold hands for Kum-Ba-Ya...Know You're Loved!
