Hopefully you can make time to get to the polls and vote on the traffic referendum before 7pm. Again, it's a vote either for or against you and I paying an extra 1% sales tax on everything we buy. This money will go toward traffic projects. A trolley for downtown Atlanta, the Beltline, etc. By law this money MUST go toward the slated projects, and cannot be used in other areas (like the 400 toll can.)
Also, the state is divided into 12 regions,so this is not a "popular" vote. The way I understand it is the majority of the 12 wins. So if the south GA areas all vote NO because they don't want to pay for metro Atlanta traffic projects, but at least 7 regions of the state vote YES, then the south GA voters will be paying an extra 1% sales tax anyway. Again, this is my understanding of how it will work. If I'm missing something, please let me know! (This is when I need the Atlanta Journal Constitution's "news for kids" segments!)
