Had to run to one of the big box stores last Saturday morning for some Rustoleum paint and an orbital sander.  I really needed some oxilic acid (I think that's what I needed...to remove rust), but no one there seemed to know if they carried it. OK.  So I go to checkout, and great, there's not a line or anything!  But there's not a cashier either...it was only the "Self Checkout", but the weird thing is, there was an employee standing right there.  Doin' Nothin'!  So I did all the work while this numbskull just stands there.  It rubbed me the wrong way for sure, so I asked "and why do they pay you to be here?'  I know, pretty passive-agressive, but it was 8AM and the coffee hadn't kicked in yet.

I go back the next day around the same time, and same thing...someone standing there watching me do the work.  "Do I get a discount on these items for checking myself out?"  Blank stare.  That's when I said "never again."  I am now dedicated to patronizing the small hardware stores who will check me out while I help them out with my hard earned money.
