A Bit of Fairy Dust!

By Jordan Graye

Peter Pan hits the Fabulous Fox Theatre on August 7th compliments of Theater of the Stars productions, and Cathy Rigby yet AGAIN plays the perpetual little boy wowing audiences with her agile rafter swinging!  She's been doing this since 1990, and Hellooo, she'll be 60 years old in December!  Fantastic!  I remember her from the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich...she won a silver medal in the World Games that same year, but due to injury didn't medal in the olympics.  I even remember her Stay Free Maxi Pads commercials!!!  OMG, that goes WAYYY back there.

Having done gymnastics in highschool, she was one of my heros along with Olga, Nadia, and Mary Lou!  Back then I had no idea she suffered from bulemia (had no idea what that even was).  As a speaker, she has been very vocal about this disease and is recovering (sorta like alcoholism...you're never CURED).  Bulemia is binging and purging, so you gorge yourself, then spew it all up.  Interviewed by People Magazine, she said that she knew where every McDonalds and Jack-In-The-Box was all over town (Los Angeles I believe back then).  The pressure to be "perfect" is a mass murderer of sorts.

So let's lighten up and enjoy the tried-and-true story for audiences of all ages and get to the Fox the week of Aug 6th...WIN a pair of tix and a meet 'n greet with backstage tour each day this week between 9a and 2p.  I'll randomly give these away so make sure you take us with you everywhere!  Good luck!

Check out the New York Times Peter Pan review from last December.  Thanks so much for listening while you work.
