Big Time Crush

By Jordan Graye

So last Friday night I was at the Fabulous Fox Theatre for Ringo Starr and his All-Star Band show and was blown away!  I sat there looking at this 72 year old man having a blast behind a drum kit with a handful of amazing other musicians around him...Todd Rundgren and Richard Page, to name a few.  I found myself thinking "Well, I've seen 1/2 of The  Beatles so far in my lifetime, and unfortunately that's gonna be it" (saw Paul McCartney both at the Omni with Wings, and solo at Philips).  Wow, The Beatles had to be the first "boy band"...they surpassed The Beach Boys in screaming, fainting girl fans!  At Ringo's show I found myself drawn to a guy I'd never seen before, Richard Page of Mr. Mister, with his barefeet and sunglasses on stage tearing up a Gibson guitar and having contagious fun.  Then I started to feel like a school girl thinking he is so cute and good-looking  and how great it'd be if I could meet him, total crush on this guy...Keep in mind I'm 50 years old!

Fast forward to today.  My 12 year old daughter is beside herself and can hardly wait til 7 o'clock tonight when she and thousands of screaming girls will nearly faint as Big Time Rush takes the stage at Aaron's Amphitheatre Lakewood.   After much obsession on my daughter's part over some guys named James, Kendall, Carlos, and Logan, she will swoon and shout and pinch herself as she enjoys her first concert (The Wiggles doesn't count) and dreams of meeting the boys in the band.

Hmmmm...does the apple not fall far from the tree?  Or ladies, is there always an excited, joyous, little girl inside of us no matter how old we are?!

Here's to : wonder, joy, exuberance, swooning, screaming at the top of your lungs in happiness, awe, over-the-topness, and letting the little kid in us come out to play!

Know You're Loved, and thanks for listening while you work. xoxo Jg
