Looks like one of our canine friends is able to assist doctors in diagnosing a terrible infectious bacterium called "C. Diff" (Clostridium Difficile). My dad had terminal prostate cancer and was in the VA Hospital off of N. Druid Hills for an extended period. He contracted this one big time. This is a huge nosocomial infection---spread easily thru hospitals. Causes major diarrhea/dehydration, and I believe he succomed to this instead of the cancer. This kills thousands of Americans each year. Seems the traditional way of finding this bug takes longer than letting FIDO sniff it out in...well...our poop! Sometimes he can even sniff the person themselves and tell whether they are infected.
