Do you remember American Bandstand?  I watched it religiously on Saturdays, capping off a morning of non-stop cartoons.  I couldn't start my day without watching it (then of course I'd have to stay and watch Soul Train right afterward, too!).

The Osmonds, The Jackson5, Bobby Sherman, all my favs of the day...and the DANCING!!!  Loved that.  Learned how to do the Bump, and the Disco Pretzel on AB!  All thanks to Dick Clark.  And who can forget the New Year's Rockin' Eve shows?  I had to laugh when I saw the caption floating around on Facebook:  "The Maya were right...No 2013 without Dick Clark to ring it in!"

Even though his creativity was still rolling in the 2000's, it was the 1970's with American Bandstand, and then The 10,000 Pyramid game show that come to mind for me.  Most of all the music, and the dancin'! Sometimes when I hear a song from way back when, it immediately takes ME back to that time of pillow fights, boy crazy-ness, charms pops, zots, zits, endless phone calls with friends, hanging out at Perimeter Mall and Lenox Square, going to Spencer's gifts for puka shell necklaces and posters, cheerleading, gymnastics, pep rallys, ad nauseum!

American Bandstand was the soundtrack to my life.  What a nice score!  Thank you Dick Clark.

Which songs immediately take you back to your childhood?  Chick-A-Boom does it for me!  And, In the Year 2525 (creepy)!  Living For the City (I had to turn the station if they didn't play the edited version...it hurt my heart to hear the story about the guy who gets taken advantage of and wrongfully imprisoned...even at 12 y/o, I couldn't handle the injustice).   Down By the Lazy River...Ok, now that you know my age, what era does it for you?  And was Dick Clark a part of it?  http://www.b985.com/weblogs/quikkies-blog/2012/apr/19/death-icon-dick-clark/
