I am thrilled to be back doing mornings, this time with Vikki Locke, on the station I love, B98.5 FM. A few years ago when I was on the air, and Vikki was at another station, I secretly admired her. I always thought her work was top notch. From her Quickies with Vikki to her incomparable interview skills, she was a great competitor. So now, I get to work with her and I can’t tell you how excited I am—I think we’ll make a great team!

My radio career began 27 years ago in Seattle, Washington. I worked the morning drives and continued keeping listeners company from 5 until 10. I hosted the show from Seattle to Kansas City, from Denver to Tampa, and then finally wound up here in Atlanta at B98.5, where I was on the air for 10 years.

I believe my success is comprised of five things: to get people talking, to entertain, to make a positive difference, to get results for advertisers and to give to the community. I love the show’s Relationship Rehab where Vicki and I get to have a laugh and hear what average folk like you and me will go through for a relationship. The best is getting the opportunity to hear listeners express their opinions. For example, one lady called upset that her boyfriend checks out other women while they’re on a date. I tried to explain it’s what men do as visual creatures. Apparently her man hadn’t mastered the art of the subtle glance. She compared her date to Bill Clinton! You never know what listeners will come up with when you get them talking!

I also get a kick making listeners laugh. Like the tidbit about how 18 percent of Americans who go on diets can’t make it through the first week. “Are you kidding? You can’t go a whole week without a Ho Ho?” (Count me in among the 18 percent.)

My advertisers love me because I get results. I love to inform listeners about great deals and then hearing back that what I said was true. For instance, “Look at Kroger and Airtran. It worked out great! I love to fly and love to eat, which also explained my need for endorsing the Quick Weight Loss Center.”

Before getting into radio, I served five years active service in the U.S. Coast Guard. One of my favorite pastimes is to take my Harley out and ride through the north Georgia Mountains. I’ve been a spokesperson for animal rescue groups. When not on my Harley, I’m home with my dog Bailey and my cat Jack.
