I'm an HLN anchor, New York Times Best Selling Author, and country singer/songwriter/recording artist. I've been happily hosting "Morning Express with Robin Meade" on HLN for 12 years now. And I'm tickled to put out my second album.
Waking up at 3am ismy "normal" routine, to get my hiney into the anchor chair at 6am greeting you with a cheery "Morning Sunshine!". Among my notable assignments: jumping out of a perfectly good plane with President George HW Bush for his 85th birthday (2009), and covering on location the second inauguration of President Barack Obama (2013). I'm honored to bring you our "Salute to Troops" every day, and love co-hosting "Accent Health" with Dr. Sanjay Gupta. I also guest-hosted "Ask Oprah's All Stars" at her request to help kick off the OWN network (2011).
My new album "Count on Me" (June 12, 2013 iTunes & Target) comes after my first album, "Brand New Day" (2011) reached #24 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. THANK YOU FOR THAT!!!.
I wrote 7 of the 12 songs on the new album, which btw, is produced by Nashville heavy-hitter Victoria Shaw (Lady Antebellum) . (She says I stalked her until she said yes.) "Count on Me" features appearances by platinum-seller Lee Brice, veteran chart-topper Kenny Loggins (as part of Blue Sky Riders) and blues musician Keb' Mo'. What an incredible experience to work with them all.
Let's see, on the literary front, my first book, "Morning Sunshine! How to Radiate Confidence and Feel It Too" was a New York Times Bestseller (2009). It chronicled my rise over crippling panic attacks that nearly ended my career.
Before joining CNN Headline News in 2001 I anchored mornings and weekends at NBC's local affiliate in Chicago, WMAQ, after stops as morning and noon anchor at WSVN in Miami, Florida & WCMH in Columbus, Ohio. My first job in broadcasting came at WMFD in Mansfield Ohio, before I went to Cleveland's WJW the same year I was Miss Ohio.
I graduated from Ashland University with a degree in Radio/Television Production, Performance & Programming and a minor in Political Science. I was honored with the school's Young Alumnus Award (2005). I was inducted into the Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame (2005), as well as bestowed the prestigious Gracie Award for Outstanding News Anchor (2010).
Im an avid Nascar fan who's performed the national anthem for the Sprint Cup races in Sonoma (2010), Daytona (2012), Talladega (2013), and Charlotte (2013) in front of millions of race fans.
My husband and I live in Atlanta with our 2 dogs, 1 nephew, and opposite sleep schedules.
If you’ve listened to music at all during the past two decades—and honestly, who hasn’t?—chances are Victoria’s talent has touched you. The Nashville-based, New York-born triple threat has either written or produced some of music’s most memorable tunes and performed on the world’s biggest stages.
Whether you’re talking about Garth Brooks, Ricky Martin or Lady Antebellum, Victoria’s Midas touch has helped craft music that makes memories.
Her compositions include six #1 hits for superstar Brooks (“The River" and "She’s Every Woman” among them), Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera’s multi-format smash “Nobody Wants to be Lonely” and John Michael Montgomery’s “I Love The Way You Love Me,” which won an Academy of Country Music Award as Song of the Year and went on to pop success with international group Boyzone.
As a producer, Victoria co-produced Lady Antebellum’s platinum debut, which helped put them on the musical map and earned her a Country Music Association award for Single of the Year (“I Run To You”). Victoria’s other production credits include Jim Brickman, Richie McDonald, Canadian Country Music Association Award winner Jessie Farrell, HLN’s Robin Meade and television personality Carson Kressley.
In addition, Victoria penned Jim Brickman's "Sending You A Little Christmas," Doug Stone’s “Too Busy Being In Love,” the Garth Brooks/Trisha Yearwood duet "Where Your Road Leads" and Eric Church’s breakthrough hit, “Two Pink Lines,” among others.
The winner of numerous songwriting awards from performing rights organizations ASCAP and SESAC, Victoria has also scored two daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Original Song for the daytime dramas One Life to Live and As The World Turns.
As an artist, she has released four albums—two on Reprise Records and two on her own Taffeta Records Label. In 1998, she collaborated with Garth Brooks, Billy Dean, Faith Hill,Olivia Newton-John, Neal McCoy, Michael McDonald and Bryan White for a charity single (written for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation) titled "One Heart at a Time.”
The daughter of two musicians, Victoria Shaw grew up listening to the California country-rock of the Eagles and Linda Ronstadt. She began singing and writing songs as a child, performing with her sister around Los Angeles. Her outreach has expanded just a bit. Victoria has performed throughout the world, including opening for Garth Brooks during his infamous New York City Central Park concert, playing the London Palladium and most recently touring with her friend and frequent collaborator, Jim Brickman.
Quite simply, Victoria Shaw is an important part of modern music.
