In Celebration of National Nurses WeekFriday, May 10th, 8:00am – 3:30pmPublic Health and Health Care Collaboration: Nursing Innovations and Opportunities Overview/Purpose: As trained ‘systems-thinkers’, nurses are poised to be innovative leaders in public health and health care collaboration. By investing in prevention, new care coordination models are emerging that will improve population health by delivering quality care at a lower cost. Join other clinical, academic and public health nurses from across Georgia to dialog and network about public health and health care collaboration. To create common research and learning networks to foster and support the integration of primary care and public health to improve population health, HRSA and CDC should convene stakeholders at the national and regional levels to share best practices in the integration of primary care and public health. ~Primary Care and Public Health, IOM 2012 Recommendation 2Learning Objectives:List three ways ACA implementation aims to improve population health by supporting care coordination, prevention and public health – health care collaboration. Discuss clinical health care and public health perspectives to identify new opportunities for nurses to improve quality of care through prevention and collaboration. Describe opportunities for Georgia nurses from many sectors to contribute to public health – health care collaboration successes and innovations.
