A very special evening of delightful music and warm conviviality co-sponsored by the W.B. Yeats Foundation and the Consulate General of Ireland, featuring two of Ireland's leading artists, singer Moya Brennan and harper Cormac DeBarra. Such romantic gatherings once took place in the great houses of Ireland and were renowned for their combination of elegant hospitality and entertainment. In keeping with this tradition, "Voices and Harps" will take place in the beautiful candlelit environment of the former Druid Hills residence of legendary Coca-Cola executive Robert Woodruff and will be followed by a champagne and dessert reception. Moya Brennan and Cormac DeBarra have each achieved an international reputation for their celebration of the ancient Gaelic heritage of Ireland in music and song. They both grew up as native Irish speakers and were raised in families renowned for their musical skills. Known as "The Queen of Celtic Song," Moya has collaborated with artists such as her family group Clannad, the Chieftains and U2's Bono and hosted the Emmy Award-winning PBS special "Music of Ireland." Cormac is a virtuoso performer who has transformed the harp repertoire through his innovative performances with artists ranging from punk rock icon Hazel O'Connor to singer/composer Julie Feeney. He has made a special commitment to reviving the soulful and technically dazzling repertoire of Irish harp, the national instrument of Ireland. Atlanta audiences have also taken Moya and Cormac to their hearts through their appearances with the Emmy Award-winning Atlanta Celtic Christmas Concert.
