Doors 8 / Show 9 / All Ages
• All ages welcome
• Vinyl is a general admission, standing room venue
When you walk into the room, the voice hits you right away. It's powerful, but not overpowering. It's raw, but not without structure. It's the conviction, blues and soul of Janis Joplin, but the smooth sultry tone and control of Jos Stone... it's Lauren Matthews.
Some people just have it; that old soul that digs deep, reaches beyond experience and by-passes the Taylor Swifts and Justin Beibers of the world.
“Two of my biggest musical influences are Blue October and Otis Redding,” says Matthews. You can almost hear a collective “Who?” from her classmates. Oh yeah, Lauren Matthews is fifteen years old.
Big Snow Entertainment signed Lauren after she won the first annual BSE Artist Search competition this January. “I had planned on being a part of the competition, but nearly forgot about it,” recalls Lauren. “I ended up joining the party two days before the show, and happened to be the last person to sign up! The talent that night was amazing but I was ready, and not nervous at all. When my name was called it was a dream come true!“
Big Snow Entertainment couldn’t have made out any better. “We can’t wait to work with Lauren!” says BSE founder, Ryan Snow. “We’re excited to be able to be a part of the very beginning of what promises to be a long and incredible career. We found something special in Miss Matthews.”
Lauren selflessly sums up her intentions and aspirations in a way that would seem foreign to most fifteen-year-olds of today. “My biggest dream is to be able to share my passion for music with people because music has done so much for me. It’s gotten me through tough situations. I want to be that for someone. I want to be someone’s hero.”
