Come and join us for the Referee Clinic hosted by Abdel Aziz on Saturday 3/23 2013 from 9:00AM to 5:00 PM in Athletic Club Northeast Gym. The Clinic, will help introduce the fencing rules to fencers, coaches and parents, and will help you to interpret these rules and learn how to apply it. You can take the practical Exam next day Sunday 3/24 for an additional $10. The exam will take place from 9:00AM to noon, where you will be observed and get rated in the weapon/weapons of your choice. The rating will be pending you passing the online exam. Abdel Aziz is one of the most experienced referees in the US. He obtained his FIE license in 1979 and has had extensive international experience from officiating numerous Cadet, Junior and Senior World Cups since then in all three weapons. He is known in all Nationals, and NCAA events as well as working in all major fencing events around the US and Canada. Abdel has also an extensive experience as a fencer, coach, head referee, and referee assignor. As a Fencer, Abdel was member of the Egyptian National Team from 1976 to 1984 and his achievements include: • Junior Foil Champion for Egypt 1978, 1979. Jr Epee Champion of Egypt 1976, 77, 78 and 79. Jr Sabre Champion of Egypt 1978, and 79. • Ranked 1st on Egypt Foil point standings 1982, 1983, and 1984 • Ranked 1st on Egypt Epee point standings 1983 and 1984 • Ranked 1st on Egypt Sabre point standings 1984 As a coach, Abdel was the assistant head coach of Egypt National Team on 1984, worked as Fencing Coach for the US Sports Academy in Saudi Arabia in 1985, and was the National Head Coach for Egypt in 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990. Currently he works as the Foil and Epee coach at Brooklyn Fencing Center. Payment is $100at the door and an additional $10 for the test (optional). All are welcome.
