1.  This meeting will provide the Faith community with the tools and information needed to dispel the stigma associated with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) as well as to counter the misconceptions about individuals with SCD. 2.  Individual participants will learn about Sickle Cell Disease, and overlooked condition that are misunderstood by the public and frequently under-treated in non-specialized medical facilities.  The disease affects more than 100,000 people in the U.S. and millions world-wide. 3.  This meeting will also be used to draw on the talents and expertise and experience of the attendees to participate in the development of a system for spreading this message to the public by educating other Faith Leaders.
