This class will help you tone and strengthen your muscles in a safe environment while enjoying great music and various rhythms! There are many perks to an improved muscle tone such as decreased fatigue, great physical appearance without the bulk, injury prevention, balance and coordination, while strength training contributes to a strong musculoskeletal system, increases bone density and strengthens the connective tissue surrounding joints. This is beneficial to everyone, but especially important to the fitness of women and active older adults. As a bonus,studies show that toning and strength training can improve your endurance and stamina. That?s because a strong muscle is a more efficient muscle, giving you added power, even when performing normal every day activities. The exercises will be done using weights, with one or two floor work exercises towards the end of the class. If you cannot do the floor work exercises, the instructor will show you modifications. This class is the perfect complement to the Zumba Fitness and Zumba Gold cardio classes. Join anytime during a session (fee will be pro-rated). Supplies: Participants will need to bring a exercise mat or towel, set of 1-3lb hand weights, towel, and plenty of water. Attire: Loose, comfortable clothing that allows for movement; Cross trainer shoes that offer stability, cushion your movements and allow for lateral directional moves (you will be twisting, pivoting, turning and sliding).
